Default Out of over 1 million Lexus sold, I found one problematic one in Italy

This is SICK.

CONGRATULATIONS! Out of over the millions of Lexus vehicles sold, you found one with a problem in Italy. In your desperate attempt to try to humiliate us, you link a thread in Italian like we were going to hire an interpreter (who probably owns a Lexus) and have them re-write the thread for us.

Because of you, over 300 Lexus enthusiests have wasted over 47,342 heatbeats and breaths reading your useless thread.

As a matter of fact, your PROBABLY WRITING THIS THREAD FROM THE MERCEDES SERVICE BAY on THEIR computer. So while waiting for your Benz to get fixed yet AGAIN, you waste your time looking for Lexus problems, and found one in Italy.

Egads, give it up please and leave us alone.

Whatever. Takes a real genius to post a "LS400"-related thread in a GS forum... What kind of car do you say you drive again?

To even take the time to respond to you is a waste of my time, but since you took the time to post, I will take the time to respond.

I will sort out your list and edit my post with response to each as I go along.

I appreciate you coming to our forum to share your collection of problems of lexus owners. Although I lost interest half way through your thread, I found it funny that you mentioned the Lexus LS400 was overheating at 155 mph. Unfortunately, that is not possible. The LS400 was speed governed well before 155 and would never reach that speed. Also, it is normal for a vehicle to overheat or reduce speed when at its limit. Maybe a Benz just keeps going before it rips a belt? I'm not sure, but I thought you might know this... Onto the next one..

Steering problem... using lead weights for a steering difficulty? After going to the actual page and looking at this.. the loose steering seems to be a interesting problem that would require further investigation then what was shown on the page, but a legitimate problem none the less.

I love the immature posts on the Benz forum also. "Go fix your camry".. well.. how about you fix your Chrysler?

I left the issue you brought about the man making a website about his supposed "lemon" until last. Every car line has its share of lemons. Fortunately for Lexus, they don't have very many and the ones they do, they rectify according. This could be a possible reason why Lexus is constantly number one in Nameplate, Long Term customer satisfaction, and Service Satisfaction, and most importantly, Reliability. Out of curiousity, where is Mercedes Benz? Grant it, they make beautiful cars that are nice and some that have amazing speed, but unfortunately, they are not very reliable and do not offer long term satisfaction. Let me share a story with you, my kind sir..

I was riding along with a buddy to try out a BRAND NEW Mercedes Benz SL500 to test drtive. A beautiful car with nice power and great machinery. We were out on our test drive with the vehicle that had 37 before it stopped in the middle of traffic without warning two miles from the dealership. I was completely stunned that this car, brand new, with only 37 miles on it could break down in the middle of the road on a test drive and could not be restarted and needed a tow. Needless to say, niether he nor I were happy. Mistakes do occur and this is just a piece of the puzzle as told to us by their service technicians. Need I say more?

Please take your rude comments and BS elsewhere and know your facts before you post in another car-lover's forum.

-Anthony

Thumbs down

Nobody said Lexus is perfect, but they def dont break down as much as MB, which is BELOW industry average in reliability and all of its cars are OVERPRICED.

Most of your fellow mbworld members would agree that Lexus is more reliable than MB

Your post is both stupid and pointless, I bet ur cheap wannabe luxury C-class is in the shop right now.

Folks,

Please keep this discussion civil and on target. No personal attacks will be tolerated.

Benzman's post is a little hard to read and is a repost of an old website by a disgruntled Italian Lexus owner. I'll try to dig up some of the threads about it where we've already discussed this long ago, so your statement about "have yet to learn this" is a bit misplaced.. (Edit) In fact the owner of that car even posted on our forums at one point about some of his problems here.

Benzman, I'm sure you know the LS400 hasn't been sold for several years (the one being discussed on that website is a 1999) and I'm there are problem cars in every auto maker's batch for the year . Some auto makers have more than others if you believe all the research and independent surveys like JD Powers.

You might want to edit your post to make it a little more legible. I moved it here from the GS forum and also PM'd you about the move and another topic.

Edit - here are a couple of other old posts by the Italian Gentlmen with the lemon LS

You guys are a little touchy arn't you? Overpriced? Well if you can't play the game find another game. As they say "If you have to ask the price" it's not for you....I can't afford a E55 AMG either but I sure enjoy looking at them. All 469 (underrated by at least 30) horsepower and drives like a dream. What? Did you say Lexus has something like it. Thought so................nope........not even close.... Or we could go to the S60........607HP and over 700 lb/ft of torque. What did you say your LS430 has under the hood? And we know horsepower from Japan is over stated or there horses are a lot smaller. Which is it?

I am NOT trying to flame brand or model here. I just wanted to share something with you.....that's all

But before I answer I have a question for Capt. Bone. Did you mean to post your reply twice or are you a little slow and hit the send buttom twice? Just wondering.

Now for my answer. As a matter of fact my C-Class does have a 'check engine' light showing and I do have an appointment on Tuesday to have it reset. Does that make you happy? I know my car is not perfect but you might want to know that the reason MB does poorly in the JD Powers survey is because MB was stupid enough to build the M-class in the states. The worse car they ever built and all of us who drive MB at least those of us who read, know this.

Capt. Bone.......if you really know your cars you would know the LS400 WAS NOT governed (at least in Europe) The LS430 is..... so give me a break....I still have the road test by R/T when the model was introduced in Europe and they were driving both the Infiniti and Lexus in Europe at 155MPH. Want me to dig it out and scan it to you?

Bottom line; The LS430 is great for the states to drive to the country club and the market. But serious driving..........don't think so. Don't know where you live but here in California try driving from LA to LV and see how many MBs blow your doors off. I can remember only once when some guy in a Lexus GS passed me around 100 weaving in and out of traffic. I let him go and to be trufhful I thought I would cross him again down the road when he was pulled over by the Hwy Patrol for driving like an idiot. Otherwise I see you guys listening to Mozart and crusing along about 75.......Hey.......no problem......enjoy the ride. Some of us are drivers and some are cruisers. Take your pick and pick your wheels.

Did you read either C/D or Automobile's take on the LS430. Conclusion; The LS430 represents the BEST in consumer goods but NOT the best in luxury goods. Read it for yourselfs. Still nothing to be offended by it's one hellva car.

As I said already I like Lexus and would have bought one accept that the LS430 is out of my reach. The GS series is ugly, ugly. and should have been aborted and that leaves that LS300. The dash is way to busy for me. The outside looks like some 'ricer' kit car. and those tail lights.......come on.......I'm way over 16 years old. So that left me with either a BMW, MB or Audi. The BMW is to small inside and the Audi (to me at least, underpowered)............so I bought the 'benz'. And, despite it's inperfections is a blast to drive and when I park it I always get treated 'first-class'. Can't beat the STAR on the hood.......Sorry, just a fact

So guys, When I post it's not to rasie your feathers. I really do like your cars.....yeah......I really do. And, when they make one that I like I could, really, could buy one.....

I'd personally say that's an opinion and not a fact .

Benzman, the forum moderators are touchy about this subject because of recent issues you are aware of. Please remember in your comments that this IS a Lexus enthusiast website and most of our members are proud of their cars... just like if a random Lexus enthusiast went over and started posting links about problem Mercedes sites by owners (like this one) on a Mercedes forum and boasting about Lexus build quality, you'd expect some defensiveness.

Again - I'll remind everyone to keep this conversation civil. It is being closely watched.

Excellent post, I must say. I took out the parts I wanted to address and ask upon since most of your post didn't make much sense.

Another lovely comment and attack because when I posted my computer stalled and I was forced to post the quote so I had what I wrote on record to respond to you and transfer to my original post. You wouldn't know that though, since you didn't ask and assumed one thing or another, and we all know what ***-u-me is about.

I failed to quote the part about the "When I roll up anywhere, I get respect" comment you made and will just address it accordingly. If all you worry about is the reaction when you "roll up" somewhere, then maybe you should recheck your priorities because it is obvious with your check engine light blarring, you won't be rolling up anywhere with your Benz anytime soon.

If your not trying to flame brand or model then why is it on only your 6th post your making enemies and posting about things already discussed with the LS? Use the search function as I would if I visited your forum.

So your C class has a check engine light on but it's because Mercedes brought the M class to America that their is a problem in JD Power and Associates? I find that hard to believe and you validate the argument that ANY model Mercedes is unreliable. Facts prove this.

I would like you to please dig out the article with the LS400 if you wouldn't mind. I don't doubt what your saying, I just doubt the fact that anyone could actually get the LS400 up to 155 mph for enough time to raise a test on it. By the way, The LS is speed governed in Japan and in the USA.. I doubt that it is not in Europe, but you have your chance to prove me wrong.

Best in consumer goods, but not in luxury goods? I can understand that considering their are cars such as the Maybach and Bentley which are extreme luxury and better than any Lexus or Benz. ALso, more recently, the LS430 was picked over the S500 which is almost 20K more. Again, FACT.

The GS being ugly? Really? Well that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Moving on.. The LS300 really? Did you really want to buy one? Well unless your Retrodrive and are retrofitting a 2JZ-GTE into a LS400 body.. it's not happening. I assume you mean the IS300. I like how you point out the rice body kit and ugly tail lights. The tail lights were made ugly and unscenely by the fact that every aftermarket lighting manufacturer that makes tail lights has the Altezza or Euro lights out. The Altezza is the "Father" of the IS300 in Japan and is what these lights are STOCK on. Your body kit comment is equally as disturbing, for the outside of a IS300 has no outlandish lines or fitments.

Your final line a bit of jumbo I could not understand, but I assume you are saying when Lexus makes a car you like, you will buy it. Well, I'm glad to hear that. You may actually be able to drive that car instead of seeing it in the shop constantly.

Please Scan that article for me. Thanks.

Main Entry: ab·er·ra·tion
Pronunciation: "a-b&-'rA-sh&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin aberrare
Date: 1594
1 : the fact or an instance of being aberrant especially from a moral standard or normal state
2 : failure of a mirror, refracting surface, or lens to produce exact point-to-point correspondence between an object and its image
3 : unsoundness or disorder of the mind
4 : a small periodic change of apparent position in celestial bodies due to the combined effect of the motion of light and the motion of the observer

One can only speculate why you have these feelings. Perhaps you wanted a Lexus, but was coaxed into a Benz instead. Now, realizing your mistake, you are lashing out at the people whom you deeply inside wished to be with. Perhaps a Lexus owner drove by you while you were in the service bay explaining the odd knocking noise coming from under your hood and you mentally invoked a moment of envy? I cannot really say what it is that causes your aberration with Lexus.

It is certainly there. Is it the 400k longevity without major service or rebuilds? Is it the outstanding resale value that you do not possess? What causes this

Do you feel threatened by Lexus so much that you feel the need to take the story of

Main Entry: 1 one
Pronunciation: 'w&n
Function: adjective
Date: before 12th century
1 : being a single unit or thing <one day at a time>
2 a : being one in particular <early one morning>

...person and using it to appear as the entire production run within itself exists these gremlins?

Is it the fact that the vehicle manufacturer you chose did not suite your needs and you now have to find one that you deeply within see as superior to your current purchase so passionately the aberration within has now caused you to lose control and cause

Main Entry: mal·ice
Pronunciation: 'ma-l&s
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French, from Latin malitia, from malus bad
Date: 14th century
1 : desire to cause pain, injury, or distress to another
2 : intent to commit an unlawful act or cause harm without legal justification or excuse

Simply with no excuse or provacation you have chosen to bring 1 (see above) story of a single owner that had a problem over here for us to see. It seems that you indeed do have aberrations, my benz owning friend. However, we promise to help you if you ever get out from under the payments and repair bills that bury you deep in aberrations and pain. We will gladly take you in and try to heal your pain.

(above entries included from webster online to avoid confusion)

I WAS KIDDING OLD BOY ABOUT YOUR DOUBLE POST. I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR PROBLEM...I SELL COMPUTERS FOR A LIVING

I failed to quote the part about the "When I roll up anywhere, I get respect" comment you made and will just address it accordingly. GOOD POINT.........THAT'S WHY I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON TUESDAY TO HAVE IT FIXED...BTW: It's not any big problem. If it was the car would go into 'limp mode' and I would have taken it to the dealer right away.

I would like you to please dig out the article with the LS400 if you wouldn't mind. I don't doubt what your saying, I just doubt the fact that anyone could actually get the LS400 up to 155 mph for enough time to raise a test on it.

WILL TAKE SOME TIME BUT I THINK I CAN HANDLE YOUR REQUEST...

AGAIN NOT A FACT. IT WAS NOT MB THAT MADE THAT STATEMENT BUT THE MAGAZINE. AS TO THE LS430 OVER THE S500.......NOPE....SORRY.....IT WAS THE S430. THE SMALLEST POWERPLANT IN THE S-CLASS vs THE LARGEST LEXUS (SORRY..ONLY) POWERPLANT. TRY TAKEING ON A S55 AMG OR JUST A S500 AND SEE NOTHING BUT TAIL LIGHTS.....AS FOR THE EXTRA 20k? WELL YOU DON'T BUY A ROLEX FOR A TIMEX PRICE.

YOU GOT ME. I DID MEAN THE IS300. WHOEVER DESIGNED THE OUTSIDE WAS ON CRACK. SORRY BUT IT'S UGLY, UGLY, UGLY.... AND THOSE TAIL LIGHTS. BTW: ISN'T THE ALTEZZA AN ECONOMY CAR IN JAPAN? YEP.......RIGHT AGAIN

Your final line a bit of jumbo I could not understand, but I assume you are saying when Lexus makes a car you like, you will buy it. Well, I'm glad to hear that. You may actually be able to drive that car instead of seeing it in the shop constantly.

FOR THE RECORD THE CAR HAD A FEW BUGS THE FIRST MONTH. SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN
TROUBLE FREE FOR 16 MONTHS. AS FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT....I THINK ITS A LEAKING GAS CAP AS THE CAR CONTINUES TO RUN PERFECTLY.....

Please Scan that article for me. Thanks.

NOW................IT'S PLEASE? Where's the love?

As for my 'benz'...........it's a car not a women and I don't lose sleep over little things when people are getting shot up overseas just to feed Dick Cheney's buddies. Now that's something to get p....ed over.
