Dude I hate to be the one to tell but that's your fault. In my family my sisters and brothers don't do anything car or electronics related without consulting with me. Knowing how much of a car nut you are (like the rest of us here) it was a moral imperative for you to make sure that your family is well versed enough in automobiles to not make such a decision without at least having you weigh in on it.

they know how much i know about cars and i've told them to come to me if they make any major buying decisions (they being my family)
see my mom and my sis got new vehicles and i didnt know a damn thing about it; they hid it from me; i'm quite insulted about it
its not her money; mom and dad help her pay for it; she gets to use my father's name in her insurance per month so it will be cheap...
i've told my family how unreliable Korean and German cars are; and that you cand find many domestic vehicles either...
my mother bought a Honda CRV; only picked it over the Toyota because it was more comfortable to her; which i applaud her for... i'm just pissed no one even told me; disrespect IMO like they dont want to hear my opinion or that my opinion means nothing to them... (because i'm the one who bails em out when they have car trouble)

Now that all the information is on the table, I must re-issue the fact that I would also be insulted if she didn't consult me. The whole factor that you weren't informed, when it wasn't all her money, and when you know the most just seems weird to me.
