:eek3: I can imagine what the Crown Athlete is going to look like when it's all VIP-ed out...even just with wheels and a drop would make that car look all that more sweet. I just wish they were available here. :( Thanks for the pics. :)

I like it more than the American made Avalon, but it may not be as roomy.

I hate Toyota for not bringing the Crown over. Maybe that will change with the Crown Hybrid concept they have on their website...One can only hope...

:eek2: :eek2: WHOA! I saw lots of these when I went to Jamaica (the older model) and they were beautiful then.

This new model knocks the socks off the old one and is very nice! I would love to have it here.

Does this crown have a lexus 4.3 V8 in it? the older crowns had a rather weak V12 in them, it put out like 280 hp due to restrictions.

I think it's the Toyota Century that has a 5.0 litre V12

uhm...

most countries do not favour large engines . That is probably why the Aristo only have 3.0L engines and using techniques like VVTi or turbos to increase the power output.

So, ... the Crown comes out only with 2.5L and 3.0L engines.

(please note that in Germany thecurrent entry Mercedes E-class is using a 1.8L and Audi A6 is using an 1.8L as well).

It's a completely new engine.

Probably some countries will get the new Aristo / GS with this engine.

That's a beautiful car... maybe they'll start bringing them into Australia as private imports? :D

I want a bigger engine if I was to buy the GS (I want a GS430) but we've only got the GS300 here... boo.. :egads:

Get the Aristo TT.
Much better than the GS430 :) (sorry don't kill me folks :) )
Also RHD, thus suitable for Australia.

This doesnt make much sense, and those numbers and times are piss poor... The crown used to be like a japanese built rolls royce. This thing is like an underpowered avalon and certainly not worthy of that name.

How do private imports work in Australia?

I'm still in college now, but I hope to retire in 30 years when I'm about 50...I've decided to start looking at countries where I could retire...Australia is on my short list. :D

Make this car proportionally bigger and it looks good enough to be a LS430, in fact it would look sexier than the current LS430.

actually the crown is like a baby version of celsior.... compare my LS430 ultra luxury both car has lots of same feature... like heated back seat with massager..rear sun shade...etc.. Crown interior feel cheap compare to my car...lots of fake wood and plastic...but crown only cost like half of what LS430 cost in the state...so I guess that make sense...

Heheh... There's someone actually trying to get an import approval for them to bring into Australia (there's importing laws that prevents parallel model importing, and they've just tightened up on the laws last year), but hopefully in a couple of years time... hopefully ;)

How do private imports work in Australia?
Basically (when I bought my Soarer), you could bring in any import that wasn't already sold here in Australia. Lexus/Toyota never sold the Soarer/SC in Australia until the UZZ40 so I was able to bring one in, however you wouldn't be able to bring in, say, a Lancer Evo. 7/8 because they already sell the Lancer bodyshape here in Australia... you can breing one in as a private import though (if you owned one oversease for more than a year).

Heres what I don't understand. We are supposed to be the "big stupid americans with too much money who buys expensive **** on a whim" So why wouldn't toyota offer a few $70,000-$100,000 Sedans?? It could be like a maybach thing "the Crown." I just don't understand, **** if that car was for $70,000 i'd be whoring myself out and selling bodyparts left and right.

Whoa.... turns out the crown is on toyotas webpage along with the FJ cruiser which we know is replacing the rav-4 in 2005, and the corolla XRS which should be out soon. There may be hope...

I just wish that we got full toyota line up here in US. i really like these toyota sedans. i used to drive 94' toyota crown back in my country( MYANMAR better known as BURMA) was very nice. It was 3.0 G Royal Saloon and i think that was the top of the line model but it came with the cloth seat. ( people in my country are pretty interesting. used top of the line versions were always cheaper than basic one because as you know these cars came with all the options such as TCS, TEMS, TRC. air sus and so on, when it breaks down, there's no one can perform the service) there was only one toyota dealer which pretty much doesnt know anything. anyway, that air suspension on my crown breaks down pretty much once a month since the roads in my country are a little bit worse than the surface of the moon. so i traded my car with toyota MARK II 96' Glorie (diesel 2L-TE, with this engine, you will know torque feel better than horse power). man i missed that car a lot. i just wish that they replace toyota AVALON with toyota mark 2 or Chaser or CROWN in US market. and i want the MR2 TURBO BACK in US!!!!

I like it! It has looks like a revamped GS.

The Toyota Crown has been a car mainly made for passengers and has never established itself as a driver's car, unlike the Mark II. In fact, a lot of companies in Asia use their as company cars. Toyota would like to take a different approach with this generation, which is welcoming.

The Crown is a better car than the Avalon - it offers RWD or AWD, and in the Majesta variation, offers the option of a 4.0 V8. It is also more expensive unless you order the sparsely equipped 2.5 liter Crown Royal.

I don't think it makes sense to bring the car here because it will pit itself against the GS in terms of price. While both cars aren't identical, they are not as different from each other as the IS and ES.

I think a Toyota crown in the states would be excellent. Ditch the Avalon, offer the 2jz-ge and equip it with everything available like GPS, HIDs, leather and maybe a conservative factory kit. It would make a nice cap to Toyota's nice line they have right now. Wonder what kind of price these are gonna go for over in Japan? Love it.

Also, under the link at the top of this page, the crown is the only car that looks like its ready to be an available model today. Pretty much everything else on there...blah. REALLY REALLY REALLY hope Toyota does the right thing on this.

Anyone know the demensions to that? I wonder if you could get a front clip of that or do a front/rear end converion on a LS430 or a fully loard Avalon (ew)
