"The new Toyota Daytona Prototype V8 entry is a race-modified version of the Lexus 4.3-liter V8 engine. The fuel-injected, DOHC power plant features an aluminum block, aluminum cylinder heads and makes 500 horsepower at 8,000 rpm."
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Feb. 2, 2004) - Lexus-powered teams finished 2nd, 4th and 6th in the Daytona Prototype class at the Rolex 24, considered the most grueling test in racing. Don't know about Le Mans. Just think if Doran-Lista Team wasn't forced to start 31st due to a paperwork snafu in qualifying. We would see the Lexus in the 1st place finish rather than the 2nd, 4th and 6th. I am betting we are going to see more Lexus racing news.
Does this mean Lexus is going for more performance oriented image? Interesting to see in the near future.

I don't mean to bump this but this is evidence of mine and a couple others theories of how underrated the Lexus V-8 is and what can be done to it!

I too have a strong feeling about the 4.3L V8. I believe Lexus will up the HP/TQ on the next V8 engine. We will not see it until the next redesigned LS430. At which time the GS430 and SC430 will have an engine refresh. Possible direct injection like the new V6 3.0L found on the upcoming 06 GS300.
