Yesterday, I was at the local Toyota dealer having some tires mounted, and the service manager and I were talking about Toyota reliability. He told me that on the used lot was a Corolla with over 400k on the original motor without a rebuild. Well, I happened to have my digi-cam, so I had to see this for myself. And here it is, a real 400K odometer reading. I believe that the Corolla was a '90 model.

Cars like this are the reason the Corolla is known as the most reliable car in history.

TOYOTA bulits the best and most reliable engine the world! that's no doubt about it. you will surprise to see, 1980 toyota hilux pick up (like 2WD tacoma size) can take 30 passengers and still can go uphill in my native coutry. they are still running to these days.you will wonder how to make 30 passenges fit in that car but it is true. no kidding here.

These cars can last forever. :D

My friend's 98' has 210k miles and it's still going strong.

Just imagine what a Lexus has the potential of reaching. I think we have yet to see it
because of Lexus' young age. I've heard of early LS's and SC's close to 400K and
going strong. Maybe in 10 years we'll see some with 600+K and it probably wouldn't
suprise me.

Actually I think the most notable is a 1989 LS400, 555,000 miles. Featured in lexus magazine.

Wow, hadn't heard about that one. I guess we don't have to wait to see it!

That LS looked damn near new too! Now thats dedication on both Toyota's and the owners part. Theres some amazing quality put into these cars that a lot of people are not aware of

There is a person locally that owns a Tercel or Corolla, early 80's, with over 1 million miles on the car, engine included, he's only changed the oil and the standard things.

He drives like a granny I bet though!

Does that even fit in the odometer? That is amazing. Anyone remember the "Married with Children" episode where Al had 1,000,000 miles on the Dodge?
