View Full Version : any black cars here w/ Xpel?
I read that Xpel doesnt look to good on black cars which I think sucks cuz i was I was looking forward to doing this as soon as I get my front end repainted. does any one else think this also any pics?
sorry i think this should go in car chat
DaveGS4 04-08-04, 10:42 AM Moved this for ya. As I said in prior post, IMO you've got to see it in person to make the call.
It's not what I'd call 'bad' by any stretch of the imagination and not terribly noticable, but it personally its enough that it would bother me. Still, may be worth the tradeoff if you live in a high-debris area.

Xpel is pretty much a Clear Bra, right?
So your girlfriend wears a clear bra, amazing! :D
1SICKLEX 04-08-04, 11:56 PM BlackDiamond has it (Mumbles). I can barely tell on his car and probably wouldn't if he did not tell me. The most obvious part is the lint that gathers where the line ends. But it is not noticable at all.

it comes precut. 3 packages. one is headlight/fogs, one is hood/fender/mirror, one is bumper
i installed the kits on my GS and IS myself. pretty good. it's not easy, you need experience for sure :D

Pull? I was there when it was installed and the guy just laid it down on the car w/ soapy watter made sure it was place right then he had some kind of soultion of water and alcohol which he then lifted up sections of the film and sprayed the solution and made sure it was done under the hole film an sqeegeed it out and walah!!

I think rominl is responding to JunctionGS's comment on "how it would come out". I think rominl read it as how to remove it later on.

I'd take a picture but it would do no good, you have to look real close to even see it's there. I've always understood that it is actually better on dark cars. I've seen it on a white car and while it wasn't overly noticable, it was more so than on my black.
On a day to day basis, i forget it's there. Even when cleaning.
thanks good to know! b4 the install did buff the section so that you wouldnt have swirl marks or not did you prep in any way
damn sorry i guess i misunderstood what junction said. yeah i was referring to how to stick it on. i have done enough xpel install to know most of the tricks :D
i didn't really prep my car before install, of course make sure it's clean and NO dust at all. didnt' really buff to take out the swirls, well probably my car was in good condition already. i wax the xpel too btw
oh and when you wax, make sure you don't put wax along the edge of the xpel....
