2005 Acura RL(new Sick Shots on the road pg2)
Wow...too Accord like. Is Lexus the only company that honestly seems to have model distinction throughout the whole spectrum???

Actually, Lexus has similar looking products as well. The ES is the spitting image of a Camry. The Camry Solara is a SC430 without the "L". The LX470 is a Land Cruiser. The GX470 is basically a Land Cruiser Prada. That means almost half (4) Lexus's look like Toyotas. Toyota has used alot of things in both Lexus and Toyotas. The GS300 and IS300 both have the Supra engine. In terms of differences, I think Nissan/Infinit is better.

The Landcruiser prada is also not offered in the US market so knock that one off.
The SC430 and Camry look somewhat similar but to say its the same without the L is ludicrist.
The ES is the splitting image of the camry? Maybe in the past but certainly not even close in the present.

I get more excited watching a turtle masterbate than looking at the new RL. The new TL is a good looking car, this new Rl looks like something from 1992. It has the hardware (AWD, 300hp, sweet interior) but again, Acura gives it an exterior only people in the witness protection program could love.

Lexus and Toyota share about as much as Acura and Honda. Its really a closed argument.

the SC and Solara are totally different interms of quality although they have similar look.
But Landcruiser 100 is as good as lexus LX470 tho.

Also, i don't see much of a resemblance with an accord at all...i think people just say that because they assume they are similar when in fact, they aren't

Werd. Exactly my point. Not unique. Even if it's a mediocre and not horrible its still very run of the mill.

It's a really nice car. Just not in the same level Lexus. For some reason I don't see the same 'refinement" as Lexus. It's too "boy-racer' to be parked in front of the club house or to get premium parking.
But don't confuse 'boy-racer' as the opposite to Lexus' conservative [ boring ] styling.
I've always believed that Lexus has set the benchmark standard by which all the other Japanese manufacturers strive to achieve. With that said, how can that RL even begin to compete with the Germans, when it can't even level the field with Lexus??
The only other way is Acura's drastic marketing and pricing for front-wheeled-drive vehicles. But step into the rear-wheeled-drive premium market and that car will be shipped back over the pacific.
Cheers.

Though, I don't believe it can directly compete with the LS 430 yet, Acura is the closest luxury brand trailing Lexus in JD Powers Initial Quality and Long Term Reliability.
Regarding the discussions on similarity amongst brands.. Well, lets not forget, Toyota made Lexus and Honda made Acura, so neither is ashamed or concerned with any of their cars looking similar, because to Toyota, Lexus and Toyota are simply two different names shared by the same company, and the same goes for Honda/Acura.
Someone once got in my LS and said, "Hey! your window glass is made by Toyota", of which I replied, "Toyota is Lexus and Lexus is Toyota". Not sure why people feel the need to completely sever relationships between the brands, they have a symbiotic relationship, that is part of their success.
