Honda Cooking up a new V8 ? For the next NSX ? (NSX threads merged)

In a brief on their website, Global Auto Systems is suggesting that the prospect of a V-8 is once again on the table for Honda, possibly destined for use in several Acura models.
The brief references Automobile magazine's recent report of the HSC's demise, and suggests that despite a quote (from an unnamed Honda Vice President) regarding the failure of the HSC's interior to meet Acura standards, the V-8 may find a home in the next NSX. Also mentioned is slotting the V-8 into a (long-rumored) premium sedan and the MDX. This seems logical, as the dimensions of the upcoming RL will keep it from competing with the likes of the Lexus LS430, BMW 7-series, and Mercedes S-Class. The MDX currently sells well with its 265hp 3.5L V-6, but there are probably further profiteering opportunities with an optional V-8.
Now if I might editorialize for a moment, this is probably the direction Acura needs to go if they seek to reach true "premium" status, if not to escape the never-ending criticism and howls for a V-8. But the question is: why have they resisted for so long? All of these notions have been suggested in the past (and several times we have heard that V-8s are "on the way"), and whether fair or not, the criticism Acura has endured has been unending. For a company that prides itself on being a "Motor Company" it seems a little odd that they don't offer one of the most common configurations in the world. We think that Honda already builds the best 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder motors in the world, so we can only imagine how their V-8 would turn out. If these new rumors bear fruit, hopefully they are developing a high revving flat-plane crank version for the NSX; of course, the MDX and sedan should get a standard cross-plane crank in their V-8.

One good example is the Yamaha-built Ford Taurus SHO V8 of several years ago getting handily dusted off by the 3.8L supercharged V6's in the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and Buick Regal GS....one reason why Ford dropped that car.
Another good example of a dud V8 was the Land Rover 4.2 V8 with only 190-215 HP...another engine that bit the dust.
Power level is determined by a number of factors, including air temperature, combustion chamber design, octane of the fuel used, spark plug type and heat range, normal vs. forced induction, effectiveness of the engine lubricant, piston design, camshaft types, type of fuel delivery, emission levels allowed, effectiveness of the engine computer, etc......and many others.
I have one and think that the SC and the NSX are the finest cars out of Japan.
They are both featured on the cover of a book called Japanese Supercars.
Both of my cars are first generation and I would not trade them for the world.
Peace!

but what is it about black ???

Of course, if I had picked it out I'd probably have gone with black on the NSX as well.
oh btw your supposed to wait until i push the enter button before you respond to the threads sheesh !!!
That is a nice one!
Mine is black too with the ivory interior.
I have not done any real mods yet.
But I did get a Wings West spoiler and skirts that I have not yet installed.
I also have 17/18 Giovanna Rio wheels.
I will have to set up a site soon to post the cars and bikes in the stabe!
I just got the SC out of the shop. I was hit while parked and later, someone stole my stereo that had a custom install. I almost have it back in good shape.
While I really love the NSX, I drive the SC more. I am always worried where I can pari the NSX and the roads in DC are horribe.
I am sure that you have checked out NSXPRIME.COM already.
