View Full Version : Here is a dumb mercedes driver for you(dude rotated staggered wheels)
DrewGS4 07-07-04, 04:49 PM Found this picture while surfing through the MB forum This guy rotated his staggered wheel setup. He has the rear larger wheels up front and the smaller wheels in the back. :egads:
Maybe he thinks his benz is FWD :D
Davtown 07-07-04, 04:57 PM Hahah, there's a genius for you.. :D
Money and brains don't come hand in hand.
SupraCoup3 07-07-04, 05:19 PM HA and he's from MA too!
HAHA he mounted the front plate and made his car look ugly!
...some people :egads:
Geeez!!! Does he even know what "staggered" means? Let's even hope he has the rotation going the right direction also:egads: :egads: :egads:
VSsc400 07-07-04, 10:06 PM it wouldn't even make sense if he was into reverse drag racing.... go figure... some people.....
they must know it looks odd......
Maybe the driver wants the ultimate in oversteer characteristics. ;) :p :o
OTOH, he may drive it backwards and had the body switched front-rear...ha-ha. :D :D
lol! I wonder if he did it himself or if he went to a shop? Imagine if he went to a shop and the shop actually performed the rotation. :egads:
Another dumb European car driver:o
my money is on the tech at the dealership not noticing the stagger. dumbass either way.
If the tech at MB did this...:eek3: :eek3: :yikes:
I can see the progression: rotating tires, brake jobs (pads installed compound facing out), wiring (neg to positive, positive to neg)... Uh...where was MB on JD's list? Hmmmmm........
lol that's messed up. What a moron.
Maybe he was looking for better handling so he decided to give his car more weight in the front (?). lol
Roofless 07-08-04, 12:08 AM Dude!
haha that's owned man.....
1SICKLEX 07-08-04, 12:15 AM .
gcrim21 07-08-04, 12:21 AM It's the law in Texas to have a front lisence plate on the front. I agree it looks ugly. Sure takes away from the looks.

joshthorsc 07-08-04, 04:59 AM So what you guys are saying is that Mercedes aren't FWD? Hehehe...:dance1:
It looks kind of normal when he drives in reverse now. :egads:
DrewGS4 07-08-04, 06:40 AM Yeah, this is funny.
What gets me even more is that this car is a CLK55 AMG. Owners of these kind of machines are usually really in tune with everything about their car. If it came back from the MB tech like this I would of noticed it right away. But this picture was taken after its been all shined up because the guy is selling his car. How in the hell did he miss this?
I don't like to flame so I won't release the forum I found this on because I am also a member on that forum.
lexusk8 07-08-04, 06:54 AM Like everyone else has said, rotating staggered wheels is a no-no, but what would really happen to the car with the rotation (as far as suspension, tires, etc)?

You want to know what will happen?
:uh:
What will probably happen is that his guy, by putting unequal-size wheels tires on the front and rear, will screw up the ABS, traction control, stability system, and low-tire pressure computers. The sensors in these various computers are going to go bonkers trying to account for the continual differences in front and rear rotation speeds due to the unequal-size wheels. The dash is going to look like a Christmas-tree full of colored warning lights indicating computer malfunctions. You can't do this kind of stuff unless the car was designed for it at the factory. Then he (or she) will take it back to the dealer and ask the service manager and wonder why nothing works right.

1SICKLEX 07-08-04, 07:41 PM I think we have quite a few dumbies here.
The owner
The shop that did the rotation (probably anywhere from 4-6 idiots)
The guy taking the picture that can't figure out "something looks wrong"

With that messed up staggered look with the big ones in the back, another thing that will happen is that he'll get more top speed but less torque. The differentials werent set up for that kind of stuff. That's what happens when people lift their trucks and put bigger tires on, they gotta change out the differentials.
