OK, I am probably gonna get ripped a new one for posting this HERE, but I really value your (plural) opinion. My friend has a 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante with 66,000 one-owner miles. It's a 7.75 cosmetically and a 9 mechanically, we think (meaning we don't know of any mechanical problems but you never know for sure). He sold it on Ebay for $3500 and the deal fell thru.
Should I buy this as a winter/extra vehicle, or am I just buying extra repairs/headache? In other words, what are the odds that this will give me 3-4 years at 5,000-6,000 miles/year with no major aggravation? I would change the timing chain, as the folks on the Mitsubishi board say that's a must around 60,000 miles. The vehicle has new brakes and tires.
