View Full Version : Plain and Simple - My Local Toyota Dealership Sucks

Before I go into detail, I must mention that I would like to go to the nearest Lexus dealership but what is stopping me is the fact that they are 50 miles away -- kind of hard for me to work the time to drive down there within my busy schedule.

Anyway, I usually take my GS to the local Toyota Dealership. Here's the first situation. I had a rattle whenever I hit between 1,500 and 1,900 RPMS from underneath my car. I had them check it out and they said that I bent my mid-pipe and it was hitting my heatshield and would cost $500 to replace the midpipe (ripoff ... will get to later) -- BUT they went and took and hammer and "FIXED" it for me and "if the noise comes back again you will have to buy that new midpipe." The noise came back the next day.

Okay, if you bend a strong metal midpipe with a hammer, it shouldnt bend back in a day -- especially if I didnt even drive my GS over any speedbumps or anything that could potentially damage it. Turns out it was just my heatshield being loose. They "slightly" tightened it and waited for it to come loose again so I'd go back and spend $500 for a midpipe. Hell, for that inflated price, I''ll just go ahead and buy a full cat back exhaust system.

Situation two. They replaced all my belts when I hit 100 grand. This kind of thing shouldn't give you any trouble for a long time, but two months later (this week) my serpentine belt has been squeeking like crazy. Turns out it was put on loose. They just claimed that it just needed some belt dressing and that the noise is gone -- and the infamous "if the noise comes back you will need a new belt". I got mad and told them that no matter what, they should replace it at NO COST towards me. It is their job to do what we pay them to do and I'm not about to pay them to fix their own mistakes! I know that's how they make money, but come on -- their business and moral ethical beliefs bother me!

They look at me strange all the time and give me an attitude whenever I mention that my car is that silver GS in the parking lot. Mainly because I'm a relatively young asian fellow. This kind of crap sucks -- going to go the extra 50 miles to the Lexus dealership. They've never given my mother any problems with her LS.

BTW, the dealership is Dyas Toyota.

sorry to hear that... seems like they have some shady workers there. IMO, its worth the extra miles to drive if you are treated right. it shouldn't have to be that way, but thats just the way it is.

and just remember... CL will always help, and we don't cost a thing :D

The Lexus dealer here in Fresno sucks that's why I don't go to them anymore. I have to get my t-belt and waterpump replaced by the end of this month so I called up a Toyota dealer so far and their price was $600 just for the t-belt. Lexus quoted me $900 for the t-belt and waterpump but I'm not going to Lexus because they got bad costumer service. Now $600 seems to be quite alot just for the t-belt. Now I'm gonna have to serach for a small mechanic shop that's good w/ toyota vehicles but am afraid to trust them w/ my car. Very worried right now...:(
