99.999% positives:
a) It will be called "Supra".
b) 2 models will be offered, base and GT version.
c) Base = $30K-ish and will smoke a 350Z.
d) GT = $50K-ish and will use a V8.
e) It will be sexy, and worthy of the name Supra.
f) When he sends me pictures (yes, real photos of the CA mystery car) you know I will piss off Toyota by posting them here.
Maybes (rumors from TRD):
a) F1 paddle shifters.
b) Boost? He mentioned the words "turbo" and "blower'.
c) May see it as a 2006 model offering.
Interesting TRD info:
a) They have stroker 4.7L V8 Tundra race engines on the shelf that now are like 5.4L and make 600hp N/A. They are for sale. :) MKV Supra swap?
b) The Scion tC Vortech blower kit has an optional water-air intercooler for 220+fwhp. $3K suggested price.
c) The "Volta" may be a reality, but only in Europe as a $100K offering.

Wow...thanks for the info. About time for Toyota to revive that legendary nameplate.
I thought the US Toyota dealers have been taking pre-orders of the Volta/Priapus already. So it's not true?:(
Having to weed thru their language to get to the actual info part was almost killing me. I'm so glad I'm back looking at CL again.:p
i m quite sure that toyota said they have no intentions bringing the supra back :(

please, oh please!! but mazda and nissan also said that they would never bring back the z and the rx. so hopefully toyota will follow suit. you know whats good though, is that there are going to be A LOT of quality supras on the market as soon as this one hit the shores. also, i think that picture that you posted is just a mkiv supra with some fancy covers for testing. those body line are IDENTICAL to the MKIV. the rear end looks like it has a cover on it to block out the tail lights and the rest of the bumper, but the lift gate is pure MKIV.

I hope it's true, that would be very cool :)
That pic reminds of a cross between a Supra and a Prelude :D
Also, good info on the Tundra Race Engines... 5.4L 600HP n/a :driving:

...that's cuz the pic is of an old-school MKIV. :)
Yes Toyota did say there will be no new Supra, however they appear to have be lying. It's good to keep the competition clueless. Lexus also said the 06 GS 430's V8 will remain the exact same, I seriously doubt it.

IMO he probably thinks that the value of his car will decrease when the new one comes out.

Well I hope it's true. B/C TRD promised us a turbo IS 300 and well, that never came.
Also, I place my bets that the base Supra will use the V-6 to be used in the new GS 300 and IS 300. So those cars will be considerably quicker as well.
The V-8 will also be used in a future Lexus. I can't see 1 V-8 engine only for the Supra. IT WILL be shared with some other Lexus/Toyota product.
I really hope these rumors are true. The Supra owned (hell really still ownsz) all Japanese sports cars sold here. History will repeat itself.

I think value will hold. Simply b/c of the 2JZ. It will take some time for the aftermarket to mod the new Supra close to the MKIVs.

Theyve been sayin that 4 years.. I remember right after I got my 1st MKIV in '00 there were rumours the MKV would be out the following year. Ten months and 10,000 miles later I was able to sell the car for $2000 more than I paid :D Like wantAnew said I'll believe it when I see it. BTW congrats on the MKIV, what year, color, stock/ modified, etc... ?

Down the line you'll have to let me know how you find it as a daily driver. I used mine for a daily driver for about 5 months and then had to switch back over to a Sedan(GS300). The reduced rear visibility/ harsher ride made me decide to use it as a weekend/ secondary car thereafter.

I've been reading that Supraforums post, pretty interesting stuff. Some good points in favor of a MKV becoming a reality.
1) Toyota dropped the MR2 and Celica from its lineup.
2) Toyota has been spending boat loads of money on every type of racing.
3) Everything Toyota does, they do for a reason.

With your track record for cars, I don't think it'll remain stock for long. :p

Um...I guess we need someone who can read Japanese to tell us what the cover says about the car to know if it's regarded as a Supra.
Not a bad design at all, just not one that should carry the name Supra.;)

Wow, this made it here sooner than I though it would. Firearms information is fairly correct. The car does exist and the GT version (V8) is in advanced development ( currently cold weather and hot weather testing). I'm not going to go into this much as I can't but let's just say that I have some miles on the GT version. You boys will NOT be disappointed!
Don't ask me any questions as I can't answer them (not that I don't want to but I can't)

i will break my heart if toyota is shi**ing with us. :)
since they are dropping celica and MR2 from the market, the whole toyota line up would be for mean age of 90+ buyers.
i m sure they have to do something to make the name toyota seems fast and sporty :)

im trying to not get my hopes up because toyota has been denying the release of a new supra. they say that the sport market is too fickle... i would love to see a new supra... and i know that the release of the mkiv was not announced till about 3 months before it was released... it is a possibility that they are keeping it under wraps... but until it comes from the horses mouth, i dont think it'll happen. everyone has been hearing rumors for years.... but none have really come to past. i am hoping though... planning on getting an MKIV.... but i am planning on waiting to see if toyota releases a new supra and what it would look like/performance numbers. plus, i do think the value of the MKIV would drop a bit...would be an opportunity for me to go pick one up at a good price.
