Damn wow...... I can imagine the backorder list for the Prius grow to like 2 years long while the dealers jack up the selling price to like $30k, and the carpool lanes will get ever more crowded to the point they become pointless.
Interesting. Faced with a challenge, Ford cries foul instead of meeting. But if it's dropped down to 35mph so the Escape qualifies, Ford will say it's OK.

There's not that much difference in price between the Pruis and the Civic Hybrid...you must be talking about a regular gas-engine Civic. If there IS that much difference, it is not the MSRP sticker-price...it is probably the shark-toothed dealers socking it to the people who are waiting in long lines to buy one.

Don't forget that the new Prius is considered a "mid-size" sedan, and has interior dimensions that rival the camry. . . which is far better than a civic. Secondly, the options available (I'm not sure if they are standard or not) absolutely blow away the civic. We're talkin about keyless ignition (like the LS430), HID lighting, and many many more I can't remember. But it is still an econocar, and yeah, $10k is a lot to ask for. But apparently they aren't having any problems selling them.

Just checked with my local Toyota dealer today and they're asking for $5k over sticker with ETA of about half a year... Fully loaded it's blowing way past $30k!! I was like... wtf... this just doesn't make any economical sense for me... Why it would for anybody is absolutely beyond me.

yes inddeed indeed. but, but i'm not looking for any new ways to spend more money :P lols. but man, those features r off the hook. it's got blue tooth, navi, keyless, microwave style ignition, much more cargo room and i think the windows are some white solar powered? (that i'm not sure).
but here's what's cool about civid hybrd- most of the stuff is conventional. no extra fancy fees. at least that's what i think. so makes maintenance a bit cheaper? it looks like a regular civic except from dam, attena, badge, wheels, and aero wing. so less suscetble to VALDALISM, muahahaha.
as for insurance. is it cheaper to insure a mid size or a compact size?? please educate!
