Next 3 convertible will have a 3 stage hardtop ala IS 300
No pics yet but seems BMW will have their next 3 as a hardtop and like the next IS 300 coupe, the system will offer targa mode when the top portion of the roof will fold back as well as a full drop to a convertible.
Whereas the IS coupe will offer this system only on it's 2-door, not sure if BMW will offer this and a true fixed roof coupe.

Lexus wants to be the 1st to market this new offering. Lexus has big plans and hopes for the next IS.
I need to get the KBB on my RX330!

Haven't heard that they were going to make a hard top convertable. I'll have to check this out with my sources 
I know they won't change the 3 to a 4 series. Besides having to much in to the M3 name as well as 3 in general, they figured it would just be to confusing. I'm curious though to see if this rumor of a hardtop is true.
