How many of you find damage to your car after you've had a repair?

I just had some work performed on the LS and while cleaning it today, I discovered that somehow the wiper arm was hooked over the fender so when the mechanic closed the hood, it was crushed. This left several indentions in the paint, chipped the paint on the underside edge of the hood and twisted the wiper insert holder. :egads:

Take it back to the dealer. Tell them it wasnt like that when you brought it in. Usually when you drop the car off they have a detailed inspection of all the nicks and dents. Hope everything works out for you.:egads:

The dealer was accommodating and the damage will be fixed.

I've had more than my share of "instances" in 20 some years:

A dimpled hood when one shop attached a fuel pressure gauge to check pump pressure. A handful of scratches ranging from tiny little marks to near 6" long marks. Door dings, scratched glass, cracked plastic covers caused by over-torquing screws/bolts, window tint damaged, interior stains caused by grease and what not.

The most irritating was just after having the bumpers painted on the Mrs. Camaro in preparation to selling it. Days later the shop that performed some minor service nosed the front bumper into the back of a truck scratching the paint. :egads:

To carry it further, sometimes a mechanic will not install all the bolts/screws so I find threaded holes with nothing in them. I know there was a bolt/screw because in an engine compartment, the threads are clean while dust is in everything else not occupied by a bolt. I've found screwdrivers, wrenches, sockets, rags...

Just my luck... :(

sorry about your luck... Ive had the good fortune (knock on wood) that nothing has happened to my car(s). good to know the dealer stepped up without a fight.

yeah, ive lost many a sockets, wrenches and bits when i was a tech. but, you know what they say... finders keepers.:egads:

yes, our family's mazda tribute, has been in 2 accidents. after the second, the trunk for some reason doesn't seem to shut tight, but it's secure enough for it not to be a problem. i guess it's not damage but a flaw in the repairs
