Default Anyone put less than 4,000 miles on their car in 1 yr?

I had my GS for 14 months this October and I have only put 4,455 miles on it. I live in NYC and the subway is more convenient for me when I go to work. It sits in the garage until my days off. They should give me discount insurance rates for that.

Anyone else average low miles on their car?

Have a retired friend in Kauai that drives sub 3K annually. He told me this weekend when I saw him that his odometer just reached 13K on his '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The wife's '97 Honda had 18K when they sold it a few months back.

My 1988 Chevrolet Nova only has 56,900 miles which averages to about 3556 miles a year.

My Mom just bought a 2002 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plaz with only 6400 miles on it. It was bought early in the model year, and the 4 year warranty is nearly over. Previous owner only put on 1600 miles per year.

You probably need at least 6 cars in order to put just 4k on each a yr. LOL

If I buy a brand new Ford it would last 9 yrs if I drove it 4,000 miles a year (I heard they clonk out at 36k miles). Heh heh. Ford reliability wouldn't be an issue for me.

well i dont have the car here anymore, otherwise i would snap a pic..

no, it was alot of highway miles, but about 35% was city miles.

my dad bought the car new in oct 1994. it was built in august 1994. it had 2.3 miles on it when we bought it.

he bought it in eglin AFB fla (nearest city, i dont remember cause he was TDY alone), and immediately drove it to anchorage AK. he then proceeded to take many 2 week and 1 month long TDY's to various places in the US, but mainly back to eglin (at least 3 times a year). it was like a vacation to him. and he would drive it back. he did this until 2000 when i inherited the car with 215,000 miles on it. then it got 100K in 3 years, all city, with a 16-17 year old behind the wheel (as a pizza delivery driver) . when i drove it (for the final long trip) from anchorage Alaska, to Ft Worth TX, moving here with my parents (it had 332K at start of trip). then i put about 30,000 more on it between june 03 and august 04 when i crashed it.

it still has the original motor, but the clutch/flywheel was upgraded to a centerforce clutch/fidanza flywheel at 80K and never replaced again. drove like a new car right up until the accident at 384,990 miles on august 16th, 2004.

never replaced anything on it out off nessecity except tires and brakes. did my oil changes with Mobil 1 synthetic 5W30 (had synth in it since the 3rd oil change). i dont think i even replaced a muffler. did the timing belt twice, WP twice, Spark plugs and wires at 65K intervals, O2 sensors every 70K, PCV valve every 40K...just maintenance.

it had no options at all, the only things it had:

-A/C
-Power mirrors
-Rear Windshiled Deforster.

that was it.

it didnt have ABS, P/L or P/W, no sunroof, no auto dimming mirror, no auto tranny, no foglights, no leather, not this or that, just pretty much a bare bones car.
