Is Lexus losing VIP status?
John
I was searching the net, and they don't really show very many pics of Lexus. All i can see now a days is, Mercedes, BMW, Bentley, Maybach (very nice), and SUV's. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Lexus has always been top notch, and will always be top notch! Do you think it's losing it's status?
John
Also "Bling Bling" has elevated to super cars like Bentleys and Maybachs etc.
Cars bought by most celebritites and shown in mags and t.v are the most expensive ones. There used to be only a handful of models. Now there are TONS of expensive cars to choose from (100k plus).
Off topic: That is my favorite quote by Michael Jordan.

At least lexus is more VIP then bling bling- that's a good thing even if they are less popular.

I guess your right, cuz now you don't see or hear much about even Mercedes and Lexus, it's Caddy SUV's, Bently's, Roles Royce, and Maybach now. Kinda sucks, because Lexus is still very much a VIP car.

who knows though.... we might start seeing' Platinum FMIC's and Daimond ball bearing Turbo's .....damn that actually sounds pretty cool. I'm calling MTV!!!!

like sick said the market is definitely a lot more compeittive here. and we are actually observative the front end wave of the VIP hit. three yrs ago no one cares about VIP i can tell you, they were talking about sport cars, coupe, etc... it's not under these two yrs that they start to pay attention to bigger super luxury sedans, and how nice they are modded.
it's an interesting market. honestly i am happy to be in it

well if you take out the VIP mag in japan, you still see plenty of toyota and nissan in there

Celebrating Lexus & Toyota from Around the Globe
And i too. Well as much as i can afford to be Lol. I agree the the style changed over the years, i've been a car buff for a while now, and even through the years, Lexus GS has always been my favorite car. And don't get me wrong, Bentley GT, would love to have one, GT3 would kill to have one, but they just aren't the same cars now are they?! lol. There's something about the design, the sleekness, the comfort, the ride, and just the right amount of power off the bat, that not too many other cars can offer for under 100K. And not one under 100K i would trade in my GS for.

For under $100k, give me 2003 M5 and I'd be happy.

Cross just over a $100k, and I'll take the 911 Turbo.
I love these daily driver performance cars.
When every day people ask what kind of car I drive, I usually say a 4-door car made by Toyota. It's the truth, and it keeps people from focusing on what I have rather than who I am. I bought my car for what it is, and not for the L on the hood nor for the 'status' associated with that L.

Some aren't so easily accepting of the answer and I've been asked, "Does it have a Toyota or Lexus emblem on it?" When it becomes this specific, I've found that it has been asked by a fellow Lexus owner.

Getting back to the VIP thing, the local car nuts are going for the Cadillac products in my eyes. Lot's of bling with huge chromes or spinners, wayyyy overdone stereo systems and the very subtle "DUB" stickers placed to be seen from every angle.

I couldn't care less how VIP lexus is perceived as. I care about the quality, comfort, and reliability. If less people like Lexus, all the better for me because that means cheaper prices when new and much cheaper prices when used. But as it stands now, I don't see resale dropping that much at all for lexus cars, so I think that may just be the perception from listening to the latest lyrics in rap videos, and not watching the actual used car market place.

Unless it was the Aston Vanquish V12. Would take that over any Exotics out there. What a beautiful machine!
