What do you guys think of gold or black drilled/slotted rotors?
Mods, I am posting this here to garner more attention as this is a general question which applies to all lexus cars. thx
Hey guys,
What do you guys think of gold or black cross drilled slotted rotors? I will be getting a set of 4 and cannot decide on which color to get. If I go with black, the part that touches the brake pads will turn silver. Any opinions would greatly be appreciated. An EXAMPLE is below.
thanks again,
Bryan

I bought the gold ones (Brembo variety) in drilled only, but painted the hats black - primarily to match the look of my two piece Brembo front rotors. Never saw them in black before. If a quality rotor maker had those in black, I'd get them

The gold ones will be less likely to show rust....which every steel rotor gets when exposed to moisture.
What rust DOES form will tend to blend in with the gold color more than with black or silver....though normally it comes off the first couple times you brake after sitting awhile.

How do they make it black? Or any color for that matter? How do they withstand the contact of the pads?

Well he said the blacks will turn silver wherever the pad touches. I think the gold is a different type of metal maybe so it's colored all the way through? I think it'll look kinda cheap if the black comes off unevenly and on just part of the rotor so I say gold or silver. If you have any gold accents i.e. emblems or calipers, get gold for sure.

That will teach me to not read through the whole post. I guess I just did not think anyone would even want black rotors that will have part of it wear away.
I agree with you on the assessment of the black. I'm curious about the gold though.
