Let's share how to take the best possible pictures of your Lexus!

Tip#1: When taking digital photos of your vehicle, try taking the photos from a kneeling level, not standing up and taking photos downward.

Tip#2: Always try to use the best available natural light possible. Try taking photos away from the sun.

Tip#3: Use your flash when you encounter shadows in your photos esp. when taking shots into the sunlight (when unavoidable).

I found pics taken during cloudy days come out best after a bit of PS.

Use a tripod, wall, or fence to steady your shot. Blurry pics will ruin even the best setting and lighting.

Amazing! Had no idea we finally got a photography forum! :woohoo:

Under low light, use a tripod.

Fast moving shots, use a fast shutter at a higher ISO to compromise the low amount of light that will be absorbed in that short amount of time.

Angled shots, while not too crazy, can bring out a lot of character in a photograph.

Wide angle shots taken w/ a wide angle lens in the front of the car literally brings the car out "towards" you.

When taking a 3/4 shot of the front of the car, turn the wheel so that the rims FACE you.

In darker lights when you don't want the flahh to go off and look like a buffon, use your fastest shutter speed. It won't flash and it will use the light around to maximize the picture.

STAY OUT OF AUTO!! Read that booklet and use those extra features. They make a world of difference.

Best Buy has Flash Cards from SanDisk on Sale. 512mb for $40. Most cameras come with a 32Mb card which for large pics, can carry maybe 15. With the 512Mb that increases to over 300.

If you have a DSLR though you don't want to get the cheapest memory, because faster memory can really mean pics get stored faster which is especially important for raw files. Doesn't matter much on most point and shoots though.

I use the Lexar 80x pro 1GB card. It was still only about $100.

This is also extremely imporant when doing wildlife or other types of fast action photography -- e.g., automotive racing, etc. DSLR's offer that opportunity to have fast multiple shots per second bursts.

Way to go TeeLex! Where in FL are you? I've got a place in Ocala.

Very interested in hearing what you think of the 24-70 2.8 lens - that's the "L" lens right? Very nice.

I bought the cheapie 50mm 1.8 Mk II lens that Brendan has also, and it's great for sharp shots!

My other lens is the 17-85 IS lens which is flexible in zoom, but isn't as sharp in certain circumstances as I would like.

The camera is incredible. My shooting skills though leave much to be desired. This is definitely not a camera for quick point and shoot type work, it requires practice and often some tweaking with the computer.

By the way, the stupid Canon driver for when the camera is connected via USB to the computer doesn't let you offload RAW files, you have to use a card reader to do that. I bought the Dazzle CF (only) reader - it's very nice, and with USB 2.0 it's nice and quick.

Bit,

I'm in Palm Beach County - Wellington, very close to bluelex. Yes the 24-70 2.8L USM lens is the one I have. I'm still playing around with the camera, exploring the different exposure processes and such. So far I'm impressed with the lens, but I'll really find out how good it is when I get a better handle on how best to utilize the camera's options.
