Thumbs up just got my Wide lens for my G5, i'm so excited

i just wanted share the great feeling i have right now. i bought a wide converter lens for my G5 its a .7 x wide. so what i can tell it basically gives me about a 30% wider diameter for my shots. this is great for those group shots and when u can get everybody in. and also when you want to get a great shot with a great scenary behind it and don't want to take it from down the block and than your car gets small do to your distance. i think their are wider lens out there for my camera but i wanted to test this one out before i buy a wider one since they aren't so cheap. if you thought i annoyed you with pics now get ready for murder!! LOL

Wow A, I didn't even know they made them for the G5. Can you post a link to where you got it (if you got it online)?

I have a little screw on piece with a UV filter I use sometimes for water shots, but hadn't seen any other options.

its funny i have to use the adpater for the new G6 which just came out. i got mine from the Ritza camera store at the mall. you can also order it from ritz.com the new G6 is silver so the adapter is silver but my camera is blk and than the wide lens is blk so it looks horrible cuz you have a blk camera with a silver adapter holding a big wide blk lens but i don't really care what it looks like to be honest. the model numbers for the adpater is LA-DC58B make sure you get the B at the and and not the la-dc58D i took home the wrong one before i came back to get the right one cuz the guy was confused. the pieces from the G6 and G5 are interchangeable but not from the G4 or G3... the model number for the lens is WC-DC58N 0.7x .......only issue i see is that if you want to use your flash( i never do anyway but incase you do) you will need to buy a flash adapter for the top of the camera cuz this lens is so wide its covers the cameras stock flash.

Pics please. I have the G5 also. Pictures would help me make a decision on this mod for my camera.

Dave, they sell some of these lenses on ebay. Search for G5

The LA-DC58B has actually been around since the G3, hence the color. With the adapter, you will already have flash problems so if anyone plans to use the adapter, plan on getting a top-mounted flash.

As an alternative to the Canon adapter (which is plastic), I bought the one from Lensmate:

http://www.lensmateonline.com/g3.html

Scroll down to see the black anodized ones for the G5. These are aluminum.

Very nice Adrian! You really need to take a photoshoot with your car, and take a picture w/ the wide angle lens up close to the front nose of your GS. I'd love to see the results!
