Looking to get a high speed, high res digi...
any advise? My Dad is looking for a SLR style body with interchangeable lenses. He is a more Old school style shooter and doesn't really like the new fangled digi cams. He likes the feel of looking through the view finder and taking the photo. He doesn't like looking at the screen and shooting. He's trying the keep the price down to around $1500, but im pretty sure he can get a VERY nice camera and a few lenses for that amount. Also, if he gets a SLR Digi Body, can he use his current lenses for that Digi? He's got a Cannon Rebel and has like 6 lenses for it. If he could use the same lenses, he would probably be happy...
thanks!!!

If he's already got Canon lenses, get a Canon 20D like I have. AMAZING camera.
If he wants to spend $1500 for a camera and more lenses, he could get the digital Rebel. The 20D is a lot faster in operation though, but the Rebel is still a great camera. He will probably not like any of the slow point and shoot (non SLR) digital cameras even though they take great pictures.

I agree, I'd suggest the 20D as well.
Great review
And I think, not sure, but I think the standard canon lenses will work with the new digitals. I'm sure someone else around here can confirm or contradict this.

Yes, all Canon EF lenses work with all Canon digital SLRs which is great.

When I first got the 20D I'd look at pics I took and most weren't that great, but I a) learned how to use the camera better (it's not as easy as a point and shoot), and b) when I compare pics I take now vs. pics from most point and shoot cameras there's no doubt my 20D is better.
Here's a small version of a pic I took recently...

And here's a version still 50% scaled down from the original.
(Make sure your browser isn't scaling down to fit on screen - on FireFox you may need to click on image to zoom it to full size, and on IE you may need to click the icon with 4 arrows when you mouse over the pic)
