I am borrowing a friends Olympus D-340R digital camera to take some pictures of random things to be posted online. The cameras owner doesn't have the software that came with it. I do have the link that goes from the camera to the computer and I do have Triscape FxFoto editor installed on my computer. Triscape isn't recognizing the camera so where would I go to get the software for the camera? Is there a place online or do any of ya'll have other suggestions. I'm new to the digital camera world so any help on how things work is appreciated!

If you have the cable you should be okay. Once you have the cable connected to the camera and the computer you should be able to open my computer. Once my computer is open you should see something in it that says removable drive or mem stick etc, This would be in the smae place that you see the drive listings. Just click on the removable drive keep goiong down the folder structure untill you get to the photos. When youclick on a photo it should pop up the picture in the built in windows photo viewer.

when I go into my computer, there is an icon that says scanners/cameras. When I click on that it asks me to add a camera. So I found the olympus make except the model of camera I have was not listed. I have the D-340R and but the D-340L was listed. I also could not find where the mem stick thing was. I guess I need the disk for this camera.
You shouldnt need any special software with a USB camera. You also shouldnt need to use the scanner camera thing in control panel. On the cameras I have used it always comes right up under mycomputer where the drives are listed.
Oh are you using WIN2K if not that may be why it doestn work for you lke it does for me.

Yes, some cameras do need device drivers (mine for example). Windows XP doesn't have everything. It does however have the D-340R in its WIA drivers already ... here's a listing of cameras that are supported out of the box.

Also, if it shows the Scanner / Camera wizard, go ahead and use it. Some cameras do not allow Windows Explorer type folder viewing like what morris mentioned. I know for a fact that you can't do that with the Canon PowerShot G5.
If all else fails, go and buy a multi-function flash card reader.
Best of luck!

Oops, just realized you had Windows 2000.
Couldn't find any specific Win2k device drivers. Even through Olympus' site, they don't have anything for Win2K.

I'd go ahead and get a multicard reader. It'd be a good investment if you were to get a digital camera later down the road, or if you already have one.

nah, around $20 - $30. just get yourself a multicard reader that way you can use it down the road.
Ditto thats probably the best route

Sweet, the card this camera has in it is a SmartMedia 8mb card. I will be going to est buy or somewhere similar soon.
