The 10th special Dubai Shopping Festival turned out the most luckiest for the Al Baik family from Palestine whose patriarch Ibrahim Al Baik bought three tickets in the names of his family members including two-year-old Abdullah Ibrahim Al Baik, who striked it rich for the family. An excited Nadia Al Haj Omar, the Syrian mother of Abdullah informed that her husband buys raffle tickets at all shopping festivals but he was very optimistic this time round.
“We were very hopeful of winning this time and our hunch has served us right. We will use one car this time and sell off the other two and will invest the money in some business and will also donate a part of the winnings to a good cause. We love DSF and enjoy all its activities especially the Global Village where we received the keys of the car last evening from Abdulla Amiri, Head of the DSF Raffles Committee along with Miss India 2004, Sayali Bhagat. The prize-giving ceremony was held live on Dubai TV at 9pm,” she said.
The Lexus prize for a day running into three cars worth half a million dirhams are organised by the DSF office in cooperation of Al Futtaim Motors. The raffle tickets are available round-the-clock from 40 select EPPCO/ENOC petrol stations (one of the Key Sponsors) across Dubai. The tickets are also being sold at the Deira City Centre, the Gold Souq, Baniyas Square and Al Fahidi Street and the new Global Village. The second draw will take place this evening at a special stage in Global Village and the final draw will be held on February 12, 2005.
This year’s surprise element – an addition of Dh10,000,000 (dirhams 10 million) grand prize has also increased the raffle’s huge demand. The purchase of a Dh250 raffle ticket entitles the buyer to enter the daily draw as well as the grand draw. There are only 5,000 tickets per draw.
The three Lexus cars are the LX 470 (4x4), the RX 330 and the ES 300, all costing over half a million dirhams. There is an attractive buy-back offer by Al Futtaim Motors, the dealers of the luxury brand who are offering Dh220,000 for LX 470 (4x4) costing Dh250,000, Dh145,000 for RX330 priced at Dh169,000 and Dh115,000 for EX300 with a list price of Dh137,000. The winner has the option of either retaining the prize cars or selling them outright to the dealers.
