I saw a commercial featuring this tasty little roadster. Wish I could have seen more, but the whole commercial was kind of dark and weird. Anyway, I like the styling of this thing. Your thoughts?
Too bad the GTO is going away. The Solstice would have made a great little brother, and an excellent introduction into Pontiac's realm of driving excitement. It's a little rear drive 2 seater based off of GM's Sigma (?) rear drive platform. Yes, that's TWO Pontiacs in 2 years that are fun to drive and powered from the back. As most can probably guess it's basically the same car as the Saturn Sky. Expect a 170hp 2.4L I4.
They are making the Solstice and possibly the Saturn Sky at the same plant I worked at in Wilmington Delaware a few years ago. I was there when they were making the Saturn L series sedan. The car wasn't that great but boy did I make a lot of money working there. Automatic time and a half after 8 hrs a day even if you did not work 40hrs a week and double time on Sundays. Did not mind working 85 hours a week after seeing the pay check. The Solstice saved that plant from shutting down. I hope it sells well because they are alot of decent people working at that plant, not the type you usaully see portrayed in movies and shows. Wish they could tune that engine to 200 hp to get 0-60 under 7 sec.
