What does this mean? I have heard the term before but not sure what it means?
Apparently, I know for the time being, it means I have to replace them. I had some shaking in my steering wheel at certain speeds in my CL500, and apparently one rim has a bend on inner side and 2 tires are cupped. What could cause the cupping? How do I prevent it in the future? I was running 245/35/20 all around.

Excessive toe-in/out, possibly a bent tie-rod damaged when the rim was bent . . ?? Inspect tie-rod, repair or replace, have a good 4-wheel alignment done, repair or replace rim, replace cupped tires, stay out of potholes.
If the cupping/feathering is on the outside you have a toe-in problem, if it is on the inside you have a toe out problem....could be from a pot hole (which is most likely what casued your bend)...think about it...if it was hard enough of a blow to bend the rim - it was certainly hard enough to throw your alignment out.
