The Jaguar XK's replacement will be called... XK. Latest spy photos of the sleek new 2+2 coupe, caught out whilst Jaguar prepares publicity material for its launch, clearly show the "XK" badge on its tail. Looking very similar to the cleanly-styled ALC - advanced lightweight concept - show car we saw at the Detroit and Geneva motor shows, it is built on a version of the XJ saloon's aluminium body structure. It'll be fitted with the new 4.4 V8 as used in the latest Range Rover, good for 180 mph and 0-60 in less than five seconds; supercharged R versions - giving a good 400 bhp - will follow.
A :thumbdn: from me compared to the current.

The rear could do with some work (are they trying to make it look like an RX-8? ), but that front... absolutely stunning!
Yeah Boii!! Thats what I'm talking about. Considering that I am a big fan of Jaguar designs this car doesnt disappoint me at all. I absolutely love it. I like how the rear track looks so wide compared to the front, and the front end is absolutely beautiful. The rear lights could use a different design(the round reverse lights need to go, or need to be redesigned). Besides that, everything else looks great. I assume the interior will be done in typical Jaguar fashion with mounds of wood and leather, so I'm not to worried about that. I wonder how light this car will be compared to the current model??
Can't wait to see the convertible. It'll probably look even better than the coupe. And isnt the 4.4L V8 used in the Range Rovers sourced from Jaguar??

:p Stunning , if you like the looks of a Ford Taurus.
Love the visual references to the XK-E Coupe! The rear end is awfully large though, giving it a "hippy" (not the good kind) look. New Ford funny car?

Yeah...that grille looks a fish out of water sucking air. :fish:
The rest of the car, though, in typical Jaguar fashion, looks great.

Thank you mmarshall, I agree about the fish mouth :D
Somehow, I remember the past threads regarding the concept looks much better than this though :(
It's a good looking car.
i like it a lot. i give
Matters 04-11-05, 07:39 PM Looks like it should be wearing Mercury badges to me. :thumbdn:
Actually~ it looks really nice! The rear end is HOT!

Rear lights look like they came off the Miata. Looks nice overall, though.
Very strong Aston Martin design cues..
Yet another polarizing design! "I love it!" "I hate it!" No one in between...
Me, I hate it. I think the current XK is one of the nicest-looking cars on the road. This one looks bloated and flat (kind of like a silverfish), and I'm definitely feeling the Taurus/Sable thing from the front view.
Scratch another car off my short list for next vehicles...
XeroK00L 04-12-05, 06:26 PM Dunno...the front could pass for a domestic rental car while the rear just looks...odd. Not feeling it at all.

The guy who designed the recent batch of Aston Martins designed this one too.

Ian Cullum. He is working with Jag now, his first was the X-type wagon (well the rear of it), this is his second, In Europe, it seems people plainly see it as a Aston Martin look alike and like ya'll said, kill the grill.
I think its gorgous from the rear, I LOVE the hatchback part, the front, yeah the circle with the lil chrome bar screams sadly, Taurus. But its not ugly.
With new European cars, with tougher pedestrian standards, it may hurt many cars front ends.
gekisai29 04-13-05, 08:43 PM alc photos in the mags looks much nicer but in any event the taurus font end has GOT to go

Meet the next convertible XK, sister to the undisguised coupe that we caught earlier. Jaguar has rejected the trend toward steel folding roofs, instead opting for a fabric folding set-up.

I think it looks really good.
different Strokes.
robloc93 04-29-05, 02:22 PM When they first debuted the concept,I hated it. Now,after staring at car for a while I think it's simply gorgeous!! I do agree that the front looks Taurus-like,but I doubt people will confuse them so it's all good :p

Incendiary 04-29-05, 02:32 PM I tend to prefer cloth tops because it reduces weight, but for a larger GT-like convertible like the XK, SL, SC, etc., which are meant more as "look at me and how much money I have" type cars than as "look at my taillights as I zip past you on the twisties" type cars, I'm less opposed to folding hardtops. I'm not sure what to make of them "rejecting the trend."
chicagoblknazn 04-29-05, 02:43 PM I like the overall design, but that front grill thing and the lights in the rear aren't doing it for me.
Ziggy09 04-29-05, 03:04 PM my mom has an XKR 100 its pretty quick... but not a very good handler maybe they addresed that
Yeah, that grill messes up the front. The rest of the car looks okay. Maybe they'll monitor the forums and change it before production begins.
1SICKLEX 05-02-05, 09:15 PM So I was about to link the pics since LATE AZZ autoweek just posted them on their site. :D

Change it to what?/ Thats classic Jaguar right there. I think it looks great. What they might consider changing is the rear light to something more like the concept tailights. However that will probably never happen considering these pics were taken from a Commerical Set(or so it seems).
I love Jags, but the back needs major work.
