Hey guys!
I currently have a point-and-shoot model (Sony P-10, 5 mpx) and want to upgrade to a camera that has more freedom when it comes to options (entry level pro?).. the Sony just isn't cutting it. The new Sony line seems to be more open to the high end market, but still seems to be babying the consumer.
I'm looking to spend between $600 to $1,000 for a digicam. I want to start doing more professional photos and share them (cheap hobby!!, well... after the initial start-up lol)
What do you guys recommend? I'd love to get a Sony (already have memory sticks =\ ) but will venture out to other media types. The only brand I can really think up right now would be Canon (reputation and quality)
Thanks in advance!

xrave - the big question I see is do you want interchangeable lenses? If so, then the new Canon Rebel XT (aka 350D I believe) looks excellent. It's the successor to the popular Rebel 300D and the baby brother of the 20D I have. It's $950 with lens on Amazon - here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007QKN22/qid=1115141059/thehigginswebsit).
Even if you don't spend another nickel after getting it with the kit lens, you'll be blown away by its speed and capabilities. It will certainly keep you busy! And don't worry about re-using Sony memory sticks, a fast 1GB CF card is less than $100.

Thanks! That sounds good. $950 + my amazon rewards points (triple that) is another $25 off certificate! lol so I can almost get a free 1 GB card.
Goldark,
I've actually looked at that sight before but it sounds all foreign to me =P I read it (mainly) for the new releases and technologies.
Thanks guys! I'll be picking up that Canon next month :woot:

I would definitly agree with what Bit suggested. Just be sure to actually try out the 350D. I'm deciding between it and a 20d, and the 350d is so small its almost too small for my hands. I like the size of the 20d better, but it all depends on how big your hands are and your preferences :)
