I'm about to order the Canon PowerShot SD300 and was wondering if it a good camera... getting it for $300.... worth it or no?

I've used the SD200, SD300 and SD400. I currently have an SD200 in my pocket right now, and this is the same form factor as the SD300 and it's size is perfect for me. The camera is so small and slim, weighs nothing, and is great for taking to parties. The SD300 has a better resolution size, but that's what I have my digital SLR for.

I say you can't go wrong with Canon's SD lineup.

I'm still a bit foggy on why Canon has the SD line (200, 300, 400, 500) and the S line (400, 410, 500). I've got the S400. Looks VERY similar to the pic you posted.

A quick scan online says the S (vs. SD) products may have a slightly better sensor but I don't know this for a fact. Anyway, I *love* my S400.

The SD300 apparently has a much improved video capture mode over prior versions.

Here's a handy interactive comparison chart - just drag and drop the camera icons onto the top boxes to compare them! (Scroll the chart to find more cameras than are shown initially)

Looks like the S models have a bit more control and take compact flash (cheap) memory and the SD has more 'newbie' modes and takes SD memory. Other than that they seem very similar.

thanks ! Do you know how long of a video it can record?

I also upgraded to a 256 memory card ...
