View Full Version : If you could merge 2 and ONLY 2 auto companies, who would it be?

That is the question? Which 2 auto companies would u merge. To keep things simple, you don't have to merge the parent company. For instance though Lexus is part of Toyota, you can Merge Lexus and Jaguar (part of Ford). Then state why you would merge the two.

My two would be to merge Lexus with Ferrari. Why? You would have the luxury and reliablity and sedans and desire for contined improvement (kaizen)and top managment of Lexus with the uncompromised sport and history and top management and F-1 expertise of Ferrari.

You beat me on this one. I was about to type in the same companies.

Why, Porcshe bought the Hybrid from the RX400h a few months ago, but Lexus needed Porsche expertise on racing(GT-R) and suspension. Both can benefit from each other, plus Toyota got some deep pocket.

Lambo and Ferrari! Combine both of their facilities and.....drool.....

LEXUS FAN!

I agree with Porcshe and Lexus because they are both classy cars, and not cliche like BMW and MB...Lexus can teach Porsche about reliability although Porsche's reliablity isn't too bad...and Porshce can teach lexus about speed

Interesting thread, Mike.

I agree with all of the previous suggestions here from a limited-market, exotic, and ultra-enthusiast point of view, but for a merge that would be far more practical in the everyday car market, I'm not sure which I would like to see the most; and I would rate it a tossup: Lexus and Mercedes or Lexus and Subaru.

A Lexus-Mercedes deal would combine the superb bank-vault construction, crashworthiness, and safety features of a Mercedes - Benz with the reliability, refinement, powertrains, precision assembly, and interiors of a Lexus.

A Lexus-Subaru deal would combine the talents of the two companies that I think now build the best cars on the road for the money.....the superb Subaru AWD systems, which I have repeatedly said are the best on the market in the under-30K range, with the Lexus qualities mentioned above. As Subarus have been outstanding in durability except for some of the 2.5L flat-four head gaskets, a very interesting combo would be the Outback's AWD drivetrain hooked to a Lexus in-line or V6 if possible.

Definitely Lexus & BMW.

Lexus reliability, refinement, luxury, electronics, service + BMW's engineering, driving dynamics

= PERFECT CAR :)

Practical combo: Scion and Lexus

Oh wait, too late =D The tC is a mini GS from some angles (or at least, they hope it looks it hahaha)

Seriously... I'd have to go with Lexus and BMW.

Lexus: Do I really have to state the reasoning?

BMW: Awesome styling (last gen... this gen needs some time for the taste buds to adjust, although I do like the 5-series), awesome driving experience, awesome performance... overall the 'ultimate driving machine' (if you go based on Machine only)

Imagine if Lexus redefined a M5... same power, better electrical systems (Japanese!!) with the Lexus experience... OooOooOOH!

i agree with lexus and BMW..

lexus is refined quality.... superior interiors, build quality, sound systems, gadgets, reliability etc.
and BMW is the ultimate driving machine... best suspension... best driving feel.... best engineering.

a lexus redefined M5 would be ungodly! though, i have to say at this point, both companies at this point seem to be lacking the exterior design id look for... mercedes has that category IMO. the real dream is a lexus built M5 with BMW engineering and mercedes E55 styling.

Scion and Ferrari. Ferrari because they build the Enzo, and Scion because the prices are very reasonable. :D

Imma bend the rules a little bit and think of more than one....

Lincoln and Buick. Why?? To make the ultimate grandma/pa cars. I currently dont like their current offerings(save the Navigator), so hopefully they can come together and make something nice

Pagani and Lamborghini. My god!!! That would be sick. Two Italian companies that arguably make the fastest and highest hp cars out to day. Not to mention the sick sick designs of both brands.

Volvo and Saab. Two rival Swedish car companies that I truely think they should partner up. It would be more like Volvo helping Saab considering the companies are both very similar except Volvo does everything better.

Aston Martin and Lexus. We can use them for their sexy designs. Lexus needs more sexy. And they can use Lexus for quality, engineering and the like.

Audi and Infiniti. Audi desperately needs to help Infinitis interior designs. Infiniti desperately needs to help Audis quality control(even though they arent up to par with Lexus, Infiniti can still help them out. right??!!)

Lexus and Porsche. For the same reasons pointed out above.

Hummer and Jeep. So they can both stop acting like little biotches about grill design.

Mercedes-Benz Temporarily Halts Production to Prepare for Merger

Not content with US Chrysler Merger, the 118-year old German carmaker looks east for help

TUSCALOOSA, Al – (May 13, 2005) From the high tech backwoods production facility, Mercedes-Benz U.S. International (MBUSI) executives pre-empted official corporate annoucements of an upcoming acquisition by Korean-based manufacturer Kia.

"Them boys up at corporate done got a wild hair about us not being cheap enough" said Bill Taylor, President and CEO of MBUSI, "so they went and started working with them dang Koreans".

Taylor stated the US-based plant will temporarily halt all production for a retooling effort in which the new combination DaimlerChrsylerKia platforms will be prepared. During this time, MBUSI will complete construction, install new equipment to ready the first new "Kia Sorento M Class" vehicle line to roll off in two weeks time. "They're really already pretty much the same vehicle so we don't have to do much" said Taylor.

The promise of more affordable peformance excites many enthusiasts. “If you like what we did with the Crossfire SRT, just wait until we create the AMG Spectra,” said Linda Sewell, MBUSI director of communications.

Industry insiders expect official press releases from the new Seoul home office of DaimlerChryslerKia within the week with more details on the merger. Overall quality for Daimler-Chrysler is expected to increase dramatically.

hot off the presses ;)

The only reason I'd *take* the M class over a Sorento is b/c it's worth more to car dealerships selling truly nice vehicles.

And that's where it'd end up, if it somehow ended up in my possession.

.
Check this out magneto. Horacio Pagani, started his career and worked at Lamborghinit for years!! His first Lambo was the 25th anniversary Countach, which was the 1st car with carbon fiber. He saw that as the future of buiding exotics. He left Lambo (still consulted for them) and started his own brand, Pagani!

Weird you stated those 2 huh? So technically they did work together before. :)

Really!! Thats pretty damn awsome. I definitely had no clue he worked for Lambo. No wonder it seems Lambo and Pagani have some what of the same direction. Very interesting. Learn something new everyday. Time to do some more research. :bigthumbu :bigthumbu

Hrmm, I would have to say Lexus + Ferrari + porsche + BMW to come up with a line of cars. :D Just pick and choose which qualities from each would be kick butt. ;) But seriously I like the previous ideas of: Lex - Ferrari; Lex - porsche; and Lex - BMW. That would be really cool.
