Well it seem that Nissan has taken notice to the Scion brand's success. Every manufacturer doubted Toyota when they announced they would launch the youth-oriented brand . Now,Nissan wants a part of that market and will soon release 2 vehicles to compete with Scion, though they will remain Nissan badged. They released the Azeal at the North American International Autoshow and most recently, The Sport concept. Do you guys think they will put a dent in Toyota's profits? I personally don't care to much for the Azeal, the coupe styling doesn't work in a vehicle this small. The Sport Concept has great potential and looks fantastic in my opinion  .

Post your thoughts :)

I dont like the first one at all. It looks like an ugly tC. I do however like the Sport Concept. Very European in design and has a Sport Clio look to it (I guess parent compant Renault had a lot to do with that design). They should produce that.

Ohh, I also hate the xB look a like too. :thumbdn:

I think its a good move for Nissan, their image is sportier than Toyota so they don't need to have a seperate brand which is good and bad. Its good as they don't have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars setting up a franchise. And I just hope the production car does not look like that pic
(threads now merged)
The white car is nothing more than a rebadged Renualt......

Oh how could I forget the Cube :egads:
I really don't like it either :thumbdn: It seems as if they are copying all three vehicles from Scion

I saw that sport concept at the NY Auto Show like 2 months ago and it looked pretty good. Caught my attention for sure. I like the little carbon fiber accents on the front and rear bumpers

No...the Cube has been on sale in Japan for some time now. It is not just a hurriedly-designed clone of the xB. Nissan marketers have been carefully watching the xB's sales to determine if there is a good enough market here in the U.S. for the Cube. Apparantly there is.

I've said this before - but I think if Nissan produced this car with a SR20DET powerplant, a decent tranny, and AWD - people would flip over it.

Of course, to make the line profitable they'd have to have lower trim levels - but I think the above described trim would stir up a lot of excitement in the auto world - especially mags.

What came first the bB or the Cube? Didn't Daihatsu make a box thing even before the bB? Daihatsu being a subsidiary of Toyota.

The little white one is going to be based on a renault so Euro influence is always welcomed in my book

Renault owns 44.4% of Nissan, and Nissan holds about 15% of Renault. Peugeot is separate and all that they own is Citroen.

TOKYO, Japan — It's upgrade time for the Nissan Cube and Cube3, two of the hottest small cars in Japan these days.

From the moment Nissan launched the compact, two-row Cube box wagon in October 2002, then added the bigger, three-row Cube3 in September 2003, the cars' hit formula of funky, functional design, matched to smart packaging, has kept the orders pouring in.

The face-lift magic wand has now brought subtle styling improvements and an expanded engine range for the Cube duo. Reshaped lamps and bumpers, plus redesigned instruments on the inside, form the main cosmetic updates.

Nissan's boosted power, too, by adding its new-tech 1.5-liter gas engine to the mix. With 108 hp at its disposal, it has a little extra muscle on the original 1.4-liter, which has 97 hp. With the Cube3 (also known as Cube Cubic), you can now get electronic all-wheel drive, as well.

Nissan distributors around the world, including North America, have been knocking on the door of Nissan's headquarters, asking whether they can get the Cube. On this generation, the affirmative has not been forthcoming but Nissan has all but admitted the next Cube, due around 2007, will make it to U.S. to give Toyota's Scion brand a run for its money.

What this means to you: Two cars that are big in Japan and could easily tempt many young Americans have just become even more enticing.http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/media/il/news/2005/0524/nissan.cube3.500.jpg http://response.jp/issue/2005/0524/article70939_1.images/87539.jpg http://response.jp/issue/2005/0524/article70939_1.images/87540.jpg http://response.jp/issue/2005/0524/article70938_1.images/87536.jpg http://press.nissan-global.com/COMMON/IMAGES/CURRENT_JP/CUBE_CUBE3/LOW/cube_cube3_09.jpg

With the Cube, at least Nissan put the gauge pod where it belongs...in front of the driver instead of the middle of the dash like on the Scion xB.

Well the same can't be said about the thing they call a minivan, the Quest w/the drum/turntable on the dash.

Unoriginal? I thought it was already discussed that nissan made the cube before the Toyota Bb.

LOL..i know exactly what you mean. My friend had the scion xb and he said it was so odd looking at the speedometer in the middle of the dash. He got rid of it and got an rsx instead.

No arguement there...the Quest is an oddball in a number of ways, and has been unreliable to boot. In fact, it may not be around much longer, at least in present form.....Carlos Ghosn himself admits it was a mistake.

Well if that's the case then cool, but they didn't put it into production first. :D ;) So to the general public who doesn't know that fact would probably also feel it was a little unoriginal. Not everyone is all knowing about cars like we are. :p JK.
