Forget the headlights, the entire car looks bad. :thumbdn: I personally dont care to much about the other MB models except for the CLK and SL. Now they went and messed up this car. Im going to be real upset if the actual car has a hint of similarity to this monstrosity. :thumbdn:

Whats the deal with MB lately?? Their cars are getting real ugly all of a sudden. The new ML-class isnt much to look at, the R-class looks like a big minivan that cost 50K+, then we get the S-class pics, and now this!!! What is going on?? They have a Bangle equivalent over there??

Why so soon? The new body just came out in '04 and the 'vert is new for '05 (my mom got her '05 coupe in August of '04 though) but in regards to model year, is it really necessary for an upgrade already? Does the public really have that sort of demand for new cars every 3-4 years? Jeez, it's getting like computers where as soon as you think you have the best, something new, faster, and better comes out.

The current CLK model W209 came out in 2003.

Should be a few more years before a model change.

I don't think we're going to see a new CLK in a few years, but undoubtedly, they are already working on the next generation soon after the current generation came out in 2003.
For example, the CGI of the next S class from autobild that I posted in the "Uncomouflaged S class" thread has already been out for almost 2 years, & it looks like they look quite close to the real one from the pics.
Nobody knows whether the next CLK is going to look like these CGI's for sure, but based on my observations of autobild's CGI's (the S class, CL class, as well as the 3 series & 6 series) they seem to have a pretty good idea of what they're doing & their pics usually looks pretty close to the real cars that are eventually unveiled.
Maybe the Germans are not as secretive about their designs as the Japanese manufacturers, but the Japanese' mags renditions don't come nearly as close to the real cars.

They're using the CLS lamp style and losing their quad-lamp trademark

Just take a quick glance at that first model (the sky-blue one) and tell me if you don't think it's a G35.

MB had a great run there in the late 90's/early 00's when they had (IMO) the best-looking lineup of cars on the road. The new generation of vehicles is not nearly as eye-catching or well-done, but not as much of an abomination as the new BMWs.

It's interesting to me that the latest Japanese designs (the RL, M35/45, and GS) all have very similar design cues and features. None of them is a stunner, but they all look, well... GOOD. The Germans appear to be trying so hard to be "different" that they just come out looking off somehow.

Yeah my bad, I'm off by one year across the board. I hope they give it a few years still though.

Their new designs aren't necessarily ugly but are simply a far cry from their current models.:dunno:

For some reason, the car doesnt seem to flow with the usual smooth clean look of Mercedes Benz. It almost looks like the new Solara

Oh C'mon you guys, it doesn't look bad at all. But I really like the traditional Mercedes-Benz.

 I doubt it. Looks like they stole the designer who did the ES.
