View Full Version : Go Yankees!!!
1SICKLEX 05-17-05, 10:44 AM 9 wins in a row!! The haters woke up a sleeping giant...
This baseball season actually seems pretty intersting.
As for our hometown Braves, we are working hard to make the playoffs so we can lose in the first round as usual......... :egads:
Francis K 05-17-05, 12:45 PM Hell yes go Yankees, the Bronx is the mecca of baseball for good reason. I'm a Tigers fan but I have all the respect in the world for the Yanks, the whole club is committed to a championship every year, from the owner down. I think Steainbrenner is the only pro franchise owner in the world who would rather win than turn a profit, I love it.
Oh and about Atlanta, you know how many teams in the league would kill to be in that position? What they have done is nothing short of amazing, I think with the rotation they have and Smoltz back as the steady HOF vet that he is they have a legitimate shot this year.
My preseason prediction was Yankees and Braves in the WS and I'm sticking to it.
SCRUFFDOGG 05-17-05, 02:03 PM hey they're 2-0 when I see them live, once in NY and last night, unfortunately i HATE THE DAMN YANKEES :p
twentyone 05-17-05, 07:41 PM i wasn't gonna say anything but.............. my world is a lot brighter than it was 10 games ago :woohoo:
flipspeed 05-17-05, 08:04 PM GO YANKS! :woot: :woohoo:
ARISTO*7 05-17-05, 08:10 PM i love the yanks. my brother got some tickets to see the yanks vs the mets this weekend.
Thomas C 05-18-05, 12:24 AM This is our year baby!!!
superpats 06-03-05, 06:35 AM The Kansas City Royals just won their first series in 97 games against who else but the Yankees! :D
ARISTO*7 06-03-05, 06:50 AM damn yanks lost their last 5
Lexis11 06-03-05, 07:12 AM LMAO not only did they lose but they got friggin SWEPT LMAO. How sweet it is. The big unit= THE BIG BUST!
Captain Bone 06-03-05, 08:17 AM Hm.. And who was it that told you all that the Yankees made nothing but a bunch of huge mistakes this offseason? Yeah, that was me.
During the stellar 9 game winning streak the Yankees beat teams with a combined record unbearable to even list here. Now, they get swept by the Royals? This team isn't what the old Yankees were... A TEAM! Steinbrenner threw together a bunch of superstar's with no sense of team.
It's disapointing and I'm not even a Yankee Fan.

Lexis11 06-03-05, 08:46 AM Bone, you couldn't have said it any better. Last year when we went on that massive run we were so close as team that nothing bothered us. Now you have a second baseman playing left field, a 30 million a year guy on the bench not hitting, a rookie at second and unproven pitchers in the american league.
I love every minute of it lol. :D :woohoo:

superpats 06-03-05, 09:34 AM I just had to bump this thread up when I saw sportscenter this morning. On the other end of the spectrum, Jeff you see Papi's shot yesterday? :eek2: Dead center! Thank you Minnesota for trading away the best 9th inning hitter I have ever seen. :p Props to Edgar layin down that bunt too, noone on the Orioles saw that coming with 2 out.

Boy was that nice huh??? Papi deep to win the game , look out we could go on a little run u know. :woot:
kuruption213 06-03-05, 12:44 PM life is good when the yankees struggle :) go orioles its about time.
1SICKLEX 07-09-05, 04:56 PM 6 wins in a row and only 3 behind Boston......Oh oh.... :p ;)
mmarshall 07-09-05, 07:20 PM I have all the respect in the world for the Yanks, the whole club is committed to a championship every year, from the owner down. I think Steainbrenner is the only pro franchise owner in the world who would rather win than turn a profit, I love it.
.
:agree: I'm with you here. I'm not a terribly big baseball fan but I do have a high opinion of both Steinbrenner and his team. Some of you Boston fans will no doubt give me flak for this, but I was disappointed last year to see the Yankees lose the World Series.
We have our own home team in D.C now, though, which is doing extremely well.
twentyone 07-09-05, 07:46 PM sean may brings the streak to an end, but i expected as much. my blood is pinstriped, but i don't see us winning it all this year, based on how we're playin right now. way too inconsistent. pitching is just bad, and way too injury prone. still, there's still a lot of baseball left.
on a related note, one of the things that is really annoying me is the wild card/x amout of games out of first stats that are spoken daily. i can see if a team is like 8/9 (or more) games outta first, but we're talkin about yanks passin the o's for second place like it actually means something right now. i just think that until we get to late august/early september, wild card convo and the like shouldn't exist.
ARISTO*7 07-10-05, 03:28 PM damn yankees lost yesterday but they made up for it today. took 3 outta 4. i must say giambi's game is tight right now. i hope hes not back on the JUICE
twentyone 07-10-05, 06:23 PM i doubt it. he seems to have worked really hard to get it all back. i'm happy for 'em.
Lexis11 07-10-05, 06:51 PM but I was disappointed last year to see the Yankees lose the World Series.
Um they weren't in the world series last year and they wont this year, too many injuries and to inconsistent, as for the Sox we arent playing well right now but we are still in first
kuruption213 07-11-05, 10:01 AM i could care less for either the bosox or the yanks. The Orioles after having a little slump took 3 of 4 from the Sox and will regain first place after the all-star break :). I've grown up being an Orioles fan I can't really get into the Nat's (I know I never could get into the Ravens) but maybe that will change over time.

WHY COULD THEY NOT LET THE STUPID GOAT INTO THE STADIUM WITHOUT ANY DRAMA?!!?!
GO YANKS! :woot: :woohoo:
how about go to hell Yanks!!!....lol :D
RiverRat 07-11-05, 12:49 PM Seems like Giambi is back to form, this time without any juice. 5 HRs in 6 games, and the yanks are on a tear :D
TOUGH schedule after the break, let's hope the yanks dont repeat with a "win a lot of games in a row then lose the ENTIRE upcoming road trip" plan like they did last time.

RiverRat 07-17-05, 08:10 PM   :D :D   1/2 game out of 1st now with sole possesion of 2nd (thanks baltimore :)), the time has come to re-take the AL east. :woohoo: :woot:
Who saw AROD crush that ball 470 feet, over the Green Monster and completely out of Fenway onto the street? :bigthumbu
bluelex 07-17-05, 08:12 PM This old man showed a lot of heart today...This team is starting to show some heart and grit of late. lots of haters as always.
Bone- Mets are looking good huh?
J- I told you the sox aren't used to being chased. they play better when teams are looking over their shoulder for them not the other way around. They kept saying they weren't looking back at the Yanks or O's and we came in and take 3 of 4. should be a great race down the stretch..
Lexis11 07-18-05, 07:00 AM Well that wasnt a good weekend for us, still in first though. :D
Man the Sox just arent playing well right now they better turn it around or else, I mean we had the so called "best" closer in baseball on the ropes in the ninth and can't even put him away just terrible, terrible. We shall see what happens from here on out. Oh and Leiter was a terrific pickup for you guys, I dont care how he pitched in Florida they guy has good stuff period.

RiverRat 07-19-05, 01:55 PM I guess we'll enjoy it until the end of the season then :D

RiverRat 07-20-05, 06:47 AM haha, it's gonna be like this with the Yanks, O's and Sox for a while, at least until one of the three teams bangs out a winning streak while another one hits a skid.
RiverRat 08-28-05, 04:12 PM Jason Giambi hit a three-run homer in the third inning and picked up career RBI No. 1,000 in the process, but that was just the beginning. He collected his 1,500th hit with a two-run shot in the fifth and added a two-run single in the sixth to finished the day with seven RBIs.
Watch Out BOSTON, WE'RE COMING FOR YOU. This Wild Card lead is just a pit-stop en route to the AL EAST TITLE again. :D:D
Boy what happened to Baltimore?
