Well, ever since the recent demise of my aristo (sold it to another guy, ASIK, on CL), I've taken up more serious attention towards my photography hobby and today took it upon myself to take some pictures of the BMW guys' rides. They came out pretty nice....

A tad overexposed in the last picture. Photoshop couldn't fix it either, oh well....let me know what you guys think. I still got like 150 other pics, but I am too lazy to post them...

Jon, big fan of the first and second photos. What lens are you using now? Last time I talked to you, you were about to drop a pretty penny on a nice Nikkor. Did you ever get it?

I am still using the standard lens kit that came with the D70 and no tripod for these pictures. I was too lazy and besides the area was really bright so I could set the shutter speed really high, rendering the use of the tripod semi-useless. The pictures came out a little fuzzy around the point of focus, but I still think they came out pretty alright.

I think they came out great. Your kit lens is definately a lot better than Canon's 18-55mm offering in terms of quality.

Nikon lenses will usually have greater contrast than Canon. Canon went for better color accuracy, although a bit on the "warm" side. Nikon will shift green/blue, while Canon is slightly yellowish.

The Canon 18-55 isn't *that* bad of a lens. Do a side by side comparo and you'll be surprised.
