I'm curious, saw one last night while out for dinner, it was a beautiful one, all red and stuff, but everytime the dude takes off, it seems as if he just dump the clutch and the car would literally jump. Is that normal for sequential trannies? Like I figure they would have modes or something where you select how clutch is engage, I'd feel annoyed and stupid while driving a Ferrari and look like a first time stick driver.
Speaking of which, I missed my GTI............... and pix of the Ferrari
regarding the shifting, correct me, but i know on enzo there are a lot of modes, including the racing mode of course. it changes the computer on the stability control system, and it also changes the fuel mapping and such i beleive
i wonder if the same or similar system in on the 430 as well, say some sort of normal or sport / race mode. m3 has that so i am not surprised on the f430. if so, and he set it to race mode all the time (as if gas is free), that could made the car takes off aggressively
that I have no idea, my friend has a E46 M3, but its not SMT, its a regular 6spd, he said he test drove them both and found clutch control was far from perfect in a SMT.
oh come on, i thought you should be used to the much better looking f430 by now
as if i am used to the 977 front end, haha
Is the 996 front end with the fried eggs headlights that needs getting used to The 997 's is more in line with traditional 911 style I 've never admired any 911's primarily for their sexy designs anyway . . .
launching the F430 is quite tricky business i heard. it involves using the LC button (launch control) as well as a combination of paddle shifts to have the car in 1st gear at a standstill--and using the brakes to hold the car back. in Motor Trend they did a little drag race between the F430 and the Ford GT. the launch technique was given out by a Ferrari test driver.
i think the Enzo version of the gearbox is a little bit more complex than the F430.
the Enzo has "Race" settings, mode, traction control toggle (you must WANT to die if you turn it off though..), and the thingy that lifts the nose (over speed bumps and whatnot)
and although the idea is the same (flappy paddles), the Enzo's is mated to a beastly V12 racer engine. the F430 is a happy chug-along V8...(understatement, yes.) designed for more "consumerish" use.
and yes, i'd have to agree that the F430 is one of my favorite cars ever, right behind the Aston Martin DB9.
