Delta, British Columbia - Canadian Autoparts Toyota, Inc. (CAPTIN), a Toyota manufacturing affiliate that engineers and produces aluminum wheels, today announced a C$39.0 million/US$31.6 million expansion - its sixth expansion in the company's 22-year history.

As a result of the expansion, wheel capacity at the facility will increase by nearly 17 percent to 1.68 million units per year, starting in July 2007. Cumulative investment at CAPTIN will reach C$232.2 million/US$188.1 million.

CAPTIN was incorporated in 1983 by Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE: TM) and was the first manufacturing investment by a Japanese automaker in Canada. The plant produces 22 wheel models for Toyota's vehicles globally and currently employs approximately 230 team members. Following the expansion, CAPTIN will employ more than 260 team members.

CAPTIN is recognized as a leader in product development and has the capability to respond to the market's conditions as necessary.

"The expansion of CAPTIN's presence in B.C. is a vote of confidence in its employees and in B.C.'s strong economy," said British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell. "For 22 years, CAPTIN has made a significant contribution to our province and we look forward to their continued success here as we build B.C.'s strong ties with the Asia-Pacific to attract similar investment across the province."

"Today marks another historic day for CAPTIN and its team members," said Gary Smallenberg, president of CAPTIN. "Everyday, we are reminded of how our contributions benefit Toyota's overall growth strategy, none of which would be possible without the hard work and dedication of CAPTIN's outstanding team members."

Toyota also announced today that it will construct a new plant in Woodstock, Ontario employing 1,300 team members starting in 2008. This new plant and CAPTIN's expansion will boost Toyota's Canadian manufacturing employment to almost 6,000.

Toyota currently has five vehicle manufacturing plants and six power train and component plants in North America. In addition, two new plants are under construction – in San Antonio, Texas and Jackson, Tennessee.

By 2008, Toyota will have the annual capacity to build 1.76 million cars and trucks, 1.44 million engines, and 600,000 automatic transmissions in North America. The company's direct investment is nearly US$16.6 billion with annual purchasing of parts, materials, goods and services from North American suppliers totaling nearly US$25 billion. Toyota's North American-produced vehicles include the Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Matrix, Sienna, Solara, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra, and the Lexus RX330.
