Bob Lutz would be a dumba$$ not too. I think it would put chevy back in the game just so lonk as it didn't have the LS2

If they ever make the Camaro again I wonder if it would have the catalytic converter hump in the passenger side legroom?

Whats wrong with 400 hp for 30k?

I tend to agree, & those computer generated sketches may look cool, but may not look as attractive when applied to an actual car.

For one thing I'm guessing it would drive the nail into the coffin of the GTO? That or maybe they don't want 2 Chevy-branded cars with 400hp... cuz the mighty vette is another $15,000... it could hurt those sales too perhaps?

First thing I do to that camaro when it comes out is do a motor swap. Either the 4.6 from next years GS or 4.5 from the M45. I love the look of that illustration, but already know GM will drop in a crude shakey and unrefine pushrod in. I like my cars fast, smooth and refine.

:egads: Yes noting like taking spending thousands of dollars in a swapping a motor out in an already fast smooth car (I dont see the new pushrod designs as rough or unrefined.) And losing 50-75 hp and matching torque on the deal! "wow that camaro is slower then stock!" :egads:
And I think they could colive peacefully the GTO being the slightly more refined softer riding car while the Camaro would be the harsher riding affordable club racer car. The corvette would have noting to worry about in this segment imo. At a weight advantage of 500+ lbs itd still be enough of a margin to outdo both cars.

Kind of strange coming from a Lexus dude. I've yet to drive a smooth high performance pushrod. At idle, a Vette shakes like it's about to die. At full throttle, feels like engines going to blow up. If it's a camaro, it's guaranteed not to be smooth. I think if you make it smooth, domestic fans won't like it, they tend to think that crudeness equalls charactor. Alot of truck guys I know have this stickers that say "A real truck is support to shake" when describing their Blazers, and Sierras. I've seen 700HP turbocharged SC300 that idles quiter than a stock V6 camry.
Losing 50 or so HP is not a big price to pay for much improved smoothness. I think those 50HP can be easily gain back with a little tuning. The M45 and GS460 V8 got alot of untap potential.

Right now my lexus idles a rougher then a stock camaro or corvette would..
It seems egr related if the collector pipe replacement and total clean out of tb doesnt fix it I guess itll be time to take it to lexus for diagnostics.
But if its a luxury like car ride you seek why not get a luxury car to begin with? im sure the upcomming SC will get the same V8 the LS will get.

Actually, if GM put the LS2 in the Camaro, it would be one HOT SETUP. 400hp and 400ftlbs
would make for one quick machine

SC is not a sportscar, it's soft and heavy like the LS. It's not the ride, it's the power delivery and engine charactoristics I'm more interested in. The Vette, altho more powerful, the delivery is somewhat disappointing, it's not as responsive as the import V8s or most 4cyls for that matter. There's a big lag before the big power hits and it's very crude about it. For example, the smoothness and response of the M5s 5.0 V8 is superior to any 5.7 L LS1 I've driven. The Vette feels like it's got major turbo lag, the response is just not instant as the torque numbers suggest.
My future project car will be a twin turbo version of the 1uzfe into an FD RX7 pushing 400rwhp on 8psi. This is how the Vette should've been from the factory. Super agile handling with V12 like thrust/smoothness and Lexus reliability. It's alot cheaper than doing a 3 rotor swap.
Regarding your SC, I don't think it's the EGR or collector pipes unless vehicle was very very poorly maintain, but even then I still doubt cleaning TB is going to do much. Those stuff don't seem to bother old Toyota engines much. If you rev the engine and it's rough at all RPM range like the engine is resisting rev and there's a power loss, most likely you've got some internal problems. But if it's just idle, then minor tunning should take care of it. Lexus diagnostic won't be cheap. Good luck!
