I am so excited. After 2 months wait from Japan, just to get the specs exactly as how I want it to be, it's finally here! Check out my new 2005 Toyota Alphard. It's got adaptive HID projector headlights, in-cabin LED lighting system, adaptive suspension system, fully adjustable passenger seats, 2 TVs, Navigation (though we can't use it here), Hard disk drive (haven't figured out how to use this yet...), footrests. Here are the pics:

The engine leaves a lot to be desired though. We get the 1MZ-FE 3000cc engine, which is found in the Camry I believe?? We almost got the lower end 2.4L one but it's barely got any power to move the behemoth!

LOL, thanks guys. That thing IS HUGE. When I parked it next to the Harrier, my harrier looks almost puny. Never mind the Honda Fit. I think we can fit the Fit in the backseats with all the seats folded down. :D

By the way, we got this van in preparation for our coming baby. My wife is 2 mths pregnant. :D :D

Geeze a 1MZ-FE :egads: At least put the 3MZ-FE for that size fo a vehicle. What HP output do they have for that 1MZ-FE V6. Yes 1MZ-FE is found in our Camry, and previously the Sienna, RX300 and Avalon.

Jon....

Pimp that van....go VIP style dude....LOL!!!

Nice and tall as heck....almost a cross between a mini-van and an Econoline van.

Looks like alot of headroom....enuff to walk within the van without ducking or bending.

Yea, we get the newest generation of 1MZ-FE engine rated at 220ps. I think this is done mostly so the price (and tax) becomes affordable for most people that cater to this market...

This van still costs me around $80k though....yikes.

very nice van jon, congrats on the new family ride :)

one question though.... if the nav doesn't work there anyway, plus you fully custom ordered your car, why did you still get it?

Hey man, congratulations that is great news (I'm talking about the baby this time). Your baby is going to be one lucky little dude.....but I'm sure your baby will not want to turn up to day-care unless you put 24s on it :D

Well we wanted the DVD system and the theater 5.1 speakers as well as the front, sides and rear cameras and the only way we can get this is if we "add the little button that says nav" on the system. No way around it.

It's actually kinda funny coz the little arrow that represents the van is just sitting in the middle of nowhere (for all the nav is concerned, the van is probably in the middle of the sea thousands of miles away from Japan) but everytime i turn the car around, the arrow also turns. For all I know, the tip of the arrow probably points to its original factory location back in Japan hehehe....

Everyone else, thanks a lot for the wishes for the baby. We went for ultrasound yesterday and we heard our baby's first heartbeats. What a miracle.... :)

Congrats on you and your wife becoming parents soon!

That van looks great except for the shopping cart wheels! :D

And $80K, that's U.S. right? How much of that is tax/tariffs, do you know?

Too bad you can't use the nav with that awesome looking screen - can't get a disk there? Is nav data available on any Lexus or Toyota in your country?

The tariff for minivans here is about 40%. So, this car in the US is probably about half of what I paid. I know in Japan, these vans go for about $46k with full options. Yeah, I can't use the nav, but I can watch tv, dvd, parking cameras, etc. Still got MOST of the features, just no nav.

Indonesian govt reserves the use of GPS system only for military use and refuse to let civilians get ahold of any of the maps. Maybe I can source some bootlegged ones off the net....I doubt it it tho.,...

LOL, you mean bribe someone in the military to release some highly-classified roads/traffic GPS cds just so I can use the nav? I don't think anyone has that kind of power around here to do that.... :D :D

Here's some recent photos now that I've begun exploring what the myriad buttons in this van do.....

Back up camera:

http://photos.e46fanatics.com/data/500/28448DSC_0335-01-med.jpg

You see the 2 lines? The yellow one represents the exact path your car is going at this moment. There's also a green line (not shown) which follows the direction of the steering wheel. The red line means the yellow line and the green line are parallel to each other and therefore you are going straight back with no obstruction. I still haven't figured out how the front and side cameras work yet. I can't seem to get them to come online on the screen.... bah.

LED illumination kit:

http://photos.e46fanatics.com/data/500/28448DSC_0336-01-med.jpg

This is another cool option that was added by the dealership for us. All the compartments light up with green LEDs. All the glass holders and ashtrays and coin slots light up with blue LEDs and all the footwells light up with bright orange LEDs. It's almost like being a ricer for free! :D :D

Right side of the steering wheel:

http://photos.e46fanatics.com/data/500/28448DSC_0338-01-med.jpg

There's a slot for the smart card. Our van comes with smart card that unlocks the door when you come within range. It will also lock the door when you leave as well as close all windows, sunroofs, etc, at a touch of a button by the driver's side door handle. The other buttons will turn on the 100v power outlet (for Nintendo, whatever), opens left and right electric doors, and turns on and off the AFS (adaptive front lights system).

Left side of the steering wheel:

http://photos.e46fanatics.com/data/500/28448DSC_0337-01-med.jpg

The leftmost button changes the suspension into sport, normal or comfort. I am not sure exactly how the electronics do this, but the feature is pretty nifty. The 2nd button with the light turn on/off all cameras, and all the other buttons are pretty standard (traction on/off, electronic rear hatch opener)

G-Book:

http://photos.e46fanatics.com/data/500/28448DSC_0339-01-med.jpg

The G-Book is totally like a computer unto itself. It does everything from the navi, telephone, FM reception, tv channels, saving MP3s into the built in hard disk, and even controlling how the DTS speakers system behave in the car. Obviously this is in Japanese and I will need to decipher this slowly....

Center console:

http://photos.e46fanatics.com/data/500/28448DSC_0340-01-med.jpg

The buttons do the seat warmers, and opens/closes electric curtains as well as the sunroofs.
