I’m not suggesting that the TL is a “chick” car, though. It’s clearly a fun-to-drive, well-equipped sport sedan that even the manliest of men would enjoy. But the economics of car-buying seem to dictate that more women buy the lower-priced premium models, while their husbands or significant others go for the more-expensive models.
he is stating that the entry level luxury automobiles here are geared economically & ergonomically to be appealing to females. That's all.

Yea I read it, he keeps saying he's not suggesting they are chick cars, but then specifically says they're targeted for women..... So if they're targeted for women they must therefore be "chick cars".

I guess we have different ideas of "chick cars". To me a chick car is a VW Cabriolet, Mitsu eclipse, Mustang LX 4cyl. Cars that you predominantly see women driving. Plus they exude absolutley no masculinity.
A car deisgned to appeal to a female buyer though doesn't necessarily mean "chick car" to me. Especially when they include the ES330 in that group, and to me that car looks far from any "chick car" I know of.
I read an article that said manufacturers were now designing cars that would appeal to women as well as men. That doesn't make them chick cars. It makes sense to cover every demographic to increase sales.

" Masculinity " in a car, contrary to popular stereotypes, does not necessarily mean several hundred HP, a truck-stiff manual transmission and clutch, a rock-hard suspension, rubber-band tires, black paint, carbon-fiber trim, Recaro seats, and half-inch ground clearance. Some people....yes, males, too....prefer comfort and practicality over sportiness.
