View Full Version : Lexus vehicle idea?
tmf2004 09-21-05, 08:54 PM just came to mind that it would be neat if Lexus came up with a truck like vehicle like Honda did with the ridgeline? I've been debating on getting a truck in the near future but with gas prices who knows when that will be... I was thinking of Toyota tundra because its the closest thing to lexus... but if Lexus had this idea or this concept, i think it would draw lots of attention to the automotive.. world....

e-diddy 09-21-05, 08:59 PM I agree with you.
I guess the Lexus P/U would compete with the Lincoln and Cadi high end pick ups.
Don't know how much of a market there would be though :uh:

Gojirra99 09-22-05, 12:24 PM I don't like the idea of Lexus going into the luxury pickup market at all. They should concentrate their resources & effort on more variations of luxury/sports sedans & coupes.
Maybe some concept like the Avalanche, but outright pickup I cannot see.
1SICKLEX 09-22-05, 06:47 PM I hope there is NEVER a Lexus pickup.

Yep....the Marlboro man would be tasting Grey Poupon. :D

Exacltly. I bet there is a better chance me becoming a vegetatrian, than these fake pick-ups (Lincoln truck, Ridgeline, Escalade pickup, etc) than those being used AS a pickup.
They are just the LAMEST boulevard crusiers.

yeah the tundra is a nice truck, especially when it has the 20" bulliet grill, skid plate, black paint and such, the tundra is a pretty nice looking full size truck.
TheRupp 09-22-05, 09:32 PM A "luxury" pickup in the lineup would degrade the Lexus name.
if lexus comes out with a pickup truck ill lose all respect for lexus...they are not followers..they are leaders so then coming out with a pickup would just make them like almost every other car company.... :thumbdn: :thumbdn: onnn that onnneee
There is a Toyota/Lexus luxury truck, it's a Tundra with leather. ;)
It would be the worst corporate decision since the Porsche Cheyenne.
I understand that the Porsche SUV is ironically the best selling Porsche now and that is too bad because Porsche is supposed to be a Sports CAR company. Do we want a Farrari SUV???
NO WAY!
What's the next suggestion: A new Lexus hatchback the starts at $24,999???
No, those mistakes are left to MB and BMW.
TheRupp 09-23-05, 07:23 AM What I don't get is the fact that the Blackwood failed MISERABLY. I mean HORRIBLY. Why the hell would Lincoln/Ford go to manufacture a follow-up of their mieserable failure? (The new Mark LT)

"luxury pickup"
is the biggest oxymoron in history.
Lexusfreak 09-23-05, 10:34 AM I agree with you.

I doubt there is much of a market long term for a luxury P/U. Lexus will pay close attention no doubt however to see how the Lincoln sells......keep in mind that Lincoln is on it's second try with this.....the Blackwood failed miserably. :uh:
tmf2004 09-23-05, 09:20 PM So i guess this is a big fat NO :thumbdn: I guess it wouldn't make sense.... Your not going to put a piece of wood sticking out of a lexus luxury PU with red tape on it are you.... I don't think so.... leave that to the ford f-150 :D
Mods you can close this thread... Thanks..
AgentWD-40 09-24-05, 12:55 AM If I were going to buy another truck I would take a look at a Lexus truck. I'm sure there are plenty of purists here that don't like the idea, but I do like the idea. I think the Lincoln Mark LT is cool. I do wish they did more than change the grill and trim bits though. I think the Mark LT had a lot of potintial.
The blackwood failed because it was a car wtih a bed. It had all utility as a truck stripped from it. The bed had doors with a power lid and a carpeted bed. It couldn't tow either. It was strictly for people who knew they wanted to use the truck like a car. That excluded the rest of the market that thinks they want a truck to use like a truck, only to use it like a car.
I'm talking as a Southern Californian who likes trucks. Outside of Texas and here trucks just aren't seen the same way. I do love modded trucks, and having a Lexus truck is sort of like having a head start modding from the factory.
