So I was driving on the interstate yesterday, and when in the passing lane I saw this bad boy (http://www.freightlinertrucks.com/trucks/find-by-model/Century/) with a "Power by Mercedes-Benz" badge on it. So i'm REAL bored today and I go to the website just to look around, not knowing that benz was still in the US truck market..... and I stumbled on this page (http://www.freightlinertrucks.com/trucks/featured-components/transmissions.aspx)
So let me get this right, Mercedes makes SMG/F1 transmissions for its semis, but not any of its cars!!!!! WTF! If that thing can handle the 1-2,000 lb/ft of torque that the semi has, why not the "measely" 6-700 in the McLaren SLR! But then again i'm not an engineer and their must be some good reason. Just thought it was interesting to see mercedes at the top of their game in other markets as well.
