Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and Scion announced today that a TRD supercharger for the Scion tC sports coupe will be available through dealerships beginning today. The TRD supercharger will help the stock tC's 160-horsepower engine put out up to 200 horsepower and increase maximum torque up to 13 percent.
This all-new TRD supercharger is compatible with both 2005 and 2006 model year Scion tC sports coupes with manual transmissions.
This centrifugal supercharger, which produces seven pounds of boost, was chosen for its compact configuration, ease of installation on the tC and smooth power delivery characteristics.
The supercharger, when installed by an authorized Scion or Toyota dealer, falls under the same powertrain warranty of five years or 60,000 miles, or the balance of the new car warranty, whichever is greater. When not installed by a dealer, the supercharger is covered by a 12-month, 12,000-mile parts-only warranty.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price of the TRD supercharger is $3,200, not including installation.
Why? Tc has MSRP of 16,715. Add the 3200 and its 19,915. Compare that to the Type S at $25k+ both with comparable HP, and IMO the Tc is a vastly better looking car. The RSX is just too compact looking. It resembles a wood splitter laying on it's side.
the tC is so ridiculously roomy as well...if you can get past the vastly deep dash the size of nebraska--it's a very nice car. even without the supercharger.
It's sure news to me that the tC supercharger is new. Toyota dealers in my area have been installing them for some time now....over a year, according to the service managers. At least that is what they have told me....was there a delay on their introduction?

Expect to pay around $3880 installed. I believe they are charging $85 an hour and they askin 8 hours of labor. It sucks for people who have automatics...cause they mentioned only for the Manuals. Also they are only issuing 3 superchargers per dealership initially so there won't exactly be a lot of superchargers around.

Probably not that much demand anyway...so you're probably OK if you really need one.

No. At the Longo Scion night a few weeks ago they had some Rep from Scion there and a prototype SC in a tC and he said "to watch out for it within the next few weeks..."
