I am considering a trade with one of my buddies. He has a 03 Black Mustang Cobra with 23 K miles. He wants my 99 M roadster (60 K miles) and my 00 supercharged Toyata Pre runner (67 K miles). The cobra has 390 hp stock. It is v8 with a roots type supercharger. That Cobra is pretty freakin fast. I would say hi 12's or low 13's. What do you guys think?

In general I would say beware of any used high-powered Mustang. Their owners tend to drive them like idiots, and they have an extremely high accident rate and are expensive to insure. But.....if you know this person, his driving habits, and the car's service history.....and I take it you do since you consider him your buddy...then MAYBE you could consider the trade. 23,000 miles for a 2-3 year old car is not a whole lot of mileage, but you are coming up on the point where you may need to replace tires and brakes......high-performance summer tires on cars like this usually don't last more than 20,000-25,000 miles and are sometimes gone at 10,000-15,000.
And if this car, like you say, runs a 12-13 second quarter-mile, the clutch and shift linkage will have taken a beating, too ( there are no Cobra automatics) . You may need to replace the clutch and transmission synchronizers....especially for second gear.
So...in a nutshell.....IMO this is a somewhat risky purchase even if you do know the guy and the car's history, and is out of the question if you don't.
I know this differs from the recommendations I gave morris a few days ago about buying a used Cobra when he asked about a project car.....and I don't want to appear contradictory here. His question involved a project car for a totally different purpose and use than your question involving this trade.

If he's a good friend, he'll never ask for a trade like that. Sounds like he's trying to rip you off. Find new friends bro; that trade is NOT worth it at all!!!
Don't do it... its not worth two cars. If he was offering you up a 911 or something, thats a different story. If you really want a cobra, maybe sell one of your cars and put a bit of money in and get a used Cobra.

Not in a Lexus, she isn't..........Lexuses have what are probably the best air conditioners on the road. And it usually doesn't get that hot in L.A. this time of year...except for Santa Ana winds.
