Havent seen the commercials yet, but I will be looking for them. I'm definitely a fan of the new Jaguar styles(well even the old ones). Gorgeous. :D

I'm still trying to decide if I like the commercial. It is definately memorable for Jaguar in general, but you couldn't really get a clear idea/image of the cars they were presenting. All the cars merged together in a collage full of "gorgeous" models and car parts.

However, the XK stands out as it is truly a gorgeously designed car. I can't wait to see it, but I know I'd never buy it. Jaguar's reliability has a lot to be desired. Perhaps leasing it would be good? It's a little more financially approachable than the similarly-designed Aston Martin DB9 Coupe.

They make the car look so much more expensive. Its like a freaking cologne add (nothing wrong with that by the way)

The "problem" with these ads is that after all the eye candy, you think "Was there a car in there somewhere?" ;)

We'll see the cars soon enough. Bring on the gorgeous models!!!

I was going to post about this but forgot about it until now.

I think that particular commercial is the most pretentious commercial I’ve ever seen. The cars may be gorgeous, the people in the commercial may be gorgeous, and the commercial may be visually gorgeous. But I almost had to change the channel because they said gorgeous way too many times! :thumbdn:

I don't think there's a link in this thread rom. I'm not sure what ChronoJ1 was posting about...

But if you go to their web site:

On the right side you can click on view film.

Hehe, while it's full of 'beautiful people' including the obligatory 'get out of the car at a valet drop off looking beautiful and hoping everyone notices' shot - overall I thought it was more about the passion and beauty that Jaguar represents and wants to be associated with, and I enjoyed it. Actually I've seen at least 2 different commercials now.

the narrator on the commercial sounds like that Baz Luhrmann character, reminds me of that stupid song he made a few years ago where he just talks throughout the entire tune.

I find the new commercials annoying and compelling at the same time.

Jaguar has really applead the the fashion side of owning a car. Yes, it's like a cologne commercial with beautiful people and we all want to beautiful...right?

That fact that we're talking about Jaguars on a Lexus forum shows how effective this ad campaign is. But seeing those commercials too many times will probably drive me nuts....

Lexus has HAD great commercials, those ones in Italy with the LS and SC430 were spectacular. Lately though... :boring:

I love the commercials, isn't it what Luxury is all about. I think they captured it perfectly and serves as a great example of advertising true luxury (excess) cars is all about. Personally I grow tired of the winding road perfomance commercials they're all the exact same, to much advertisement of sport. Jag took it back to the true roots of showing off shameless luxury. Lexus your turn.

Hah, it's like a commercial celebrating human stupidity.

The commercial impressed me more with all the gorgeous women (and men?:uh: ) than with the new XK.;)

The new XK site, however, is one of the best new car introductory websites I've seen. Everything is beautifully presented and does a fine job impressing viewers. The engine sound is heard everywhere too. The way they present the sound clips under the 4.2 Litre V8 Engine and Acoustic Refinement sections after you click on Drive really is something Lexus can probably learn from:

Great commercial, & I agree the old XK is much nicer in terms of style . . .

Looks like Jaguar is going back to its successful US magazine campaigns of the '50's when the marque was sold on its looks and the cachet of elegance . . .polo fields, beautiful people, yachts, more beautiful people . . . The pitch is if you want to be a beautiful people, buy two or three of these . . .

It was a lifestyle ad - introduced by Ned Jordan in his copy for the Jordan "Playboy" back in 1923:

http://www.charleswelty.com/images/jordan_ad.jpg

It was the first advertising to sell the "sizzle" rather than the steak - notice there is not one word about the car itself - just the kind of person who would drive it. Notice too, that the ad - that appeared in the Saturday Evening Post, was directed at women - a new market niche for automobiles . . . the trust fund baby. The Playboy was ultimately unsuccessful - because it couldn't live up to the advertising.

The ad, if not the car, remains a classic - often described as the finest ad copy ever written. :p

In general, Jaguar, Mercedes and even Infiniti are doing more brand advertising. Lexus seems to be doing model advertising.
