This is what a guy on another board said.
"The information on a Japanese car magazine is introduced.
The next G carries new V6 engine 'FZ'. Probably it is called 'FZ37' (3.7liter 320-330hp ).
It is reported that a this 'turbo' version is carried in next GT-R.
A new style platform is used at the next G. This is reported for the front section to consist of aluminum."
I think dude is in Japan. Personally, I'm a bit skeptical about this new engine. There is no mention of it in the US press at all. But the VQ engine is going on 12 years old, so maybe the change is warranted.
Anyways, aluminum and weight savings is always welcome in a sport sedan.
If true,
320 hp V6, 6MT, aluminum body, $33,000 (?) .... Where do I sign up?
funny because I remember some early rumors saying the GT-R engine was going to be a 3.7 liter but I doubted they would bore or stroke their 3.5... I guess a new engine make sense

I don't doubt this..they have to keep up with Toyota and boost HP numbers slightly.
Looks promising.

It sounds terrible. It will be a pain to work on the car knowing the engine will be pretty big and a V configuration. Think of 300ZX TT.

Not bad at all. At that horsepower level lhe E46 M3 may finally see competition from Japan, particularly since there's little doubt that the new G will still come with a manual gearbox. But then there's E92 M3 right around the corner. Perhaps it'll be more of a 335i which is also a turbo 6 and should be released at around the same time.
As far as the GT-R goes, one can probably turbo a G37X himself can call that a GT-R.:D
ah that sounds very promising!!!!
I guess it's not that shocking. It's pretty much been Nissan's M.O to play the hp game pretty aggressively. While I find the speculation interesting and hope it's true, I'm more interested in them putting a halfway decent interior in the G, maybe more M-esque. Of course everyone thinks that's pretty likely, so that does make me happy. What can I say? I already love the ride/power in my G, but the interior (aside from the nice leather) makes me ill. :)
the name and the spec of the engine doesn't go with the engine family trait, or is it the FZ37DET

3.7L that's definitely an odd engine displacement.

I can see the bump in displacement, makes sense, Nissan has to play the "i have more hp than you" game.
As for an aluminum front end, that costs $$$$ and one, if not the main reason G35s sell are the very attractive price.

I remain skeptical because there hasn't been any mention of this new "FZ" engine thus far. As far as I know, engine development takes years and we should have heard something about this a while ago.
