Jaguar Tops Power Sales Satisfaction Index

Jaguar dealers do the best job of satisfying new customers, according to J.D. Power's new Sales Satisfaction Index Study. For the second year in a row, the company ranked first in the Power study that examines all aspects of the dealership experience, from sales personnel to finance. Jaguar scored 889 out of 1000 possible points; last year's co-winner Lexus finished a point behind at 888, while Buick and Porsche shared third place at 878. Most improved in this year's study, Power says, is Toyota's Scion brand. Some of the problems buyers experience when shopping - problems that can lower a brand's score - include not finding vehicles with the features they want, or buying a vehicle with more features than they like due to availability. Power also reports that buyers who spend more than an hour at the showroom are significantly more unhappy with the experience than those who clock in at less than an hour. This year's survey tallied votes from more than 37,000 new car buyers who bought their vehicles in May of 2005.

Why is that JD powers and Consumer Report are always different I mean almost opposite?

damn!....for the prices Mercedes ask for thier vehicles and claim that they are bench mark of luxury.....well it looks like they are more into making "just" money for thier cars, and simply not care as much about the people after the fact..... :thumbdn: :thumbdn: :thumbdn:

I guess the package madness (HID, ML, PCS) of the New IS is gonna drag down Lexus's score even further next year according to the quoted criteria.

Of all the Mercedes owners I've know, I have yet to hear one positive comment about their dealerships.

jag has to be on top, they see their cusomers every single week for repairs so I'm sure they develop great bonds. :D

people not able to find the options they want for the new IS is probably hurting that rating

toyota has always had poor customer to dealer realtionship, but they still have the highest return buyers because the cars bring them back

people not able to find the options they want for the new IS is probably hurting that ratingThat's what I said, except that I think it's only affecting Lexus's rating of the next year, not of the 2005 one since the New IS just went on sale a month ago.

Notice something interesting, though? :uh: There is a very gradual drop-off in each make from top to bottom.....then, BANG......a huge drop-off at the bottom for Isuzu. I don't know all the reasons for that, but my educated guess is that it comes from customers going into an Isuzu store expecting to see a line of SUV's and pickups like in the past and then seeing only one vehicle for sale....a reworked, cheaper version of the Chevy / GM TrailBlazer.

A new pickup...a rebadged Chevy Colorado......is coming soon to Isuzu showrooms and may help pick up the company's fortunes a little, but it still is not a real Isuzu product.

BTW everyone, this is not reliability but csr satisfactionHaha... I know, but you know, it's more of a bragging right thing. Whereas MB owners brag about their horsepower and torque monsters and BMW owners brag about the best road feel in class, we Lexus owners brag about how many J. D. Power awards Lexus has won in how many consecutive years.:D And to this end, I'm sorely disappointed with the outcome of the study this year. :p

I think it is good for Lexus to slide a bit every now and then in these rankings. Even those that are the best at what they do need to get that "fire in under their butt" from time to time to avoid becoming complacent.

Side note: Anyone seen one of those new Jaguar XJ Portfolio editions in person yet? The pictures alone are beautiful.

Congrats to Lexus for making it to the top of the list again(2nd place is still damn good)

Bur an evewn bigger congrats to Jaguar for taking the Number One spot. After I saw the Quality results of Jaguar this year with its I believe second place in the JD Power study as well, I knew they were moving on to bigger things. Finally a European comapny that can almost rival Lexus in the Qaulity survery.(okay they got a little ways to go, but they improved a lot this past year or two compared to the other Euro brands.)

I HAVE NEVER SEEN AN ISUZU DEALERSHIP IN MY LIFE :egads:

Maybe I'm offering an excuse to Lexus (not that it needs an excuse to be one point behind the leader) and Toyota dealers, but sales for these 2 brands has exceeded most other brands. I suspect that the dealers are playing "catch-up" trying to hire sales reps and expand facilities to keep up with the volume. Whereas Jaguar's sales are continuing to bottom out, probably allowing one sales rep per customer and one service tech per car :D

Or Jag just simply stepped up their game, heck anyone can do it. Lexus does not hold some patent to a secret sauce aint nothin to it but to do it and Lexus proved that, but really anyone can get a piece of the pie. Come on now just because we like or love the cars we own dosen't mean we bend down and kiss Lexus tail pipes.

There are two just within 5 miles of my house....Cherner Isuzu-Kia at Tysons' Corner, VA, and Brown Buick-Isuzu in Fairfax, VA.
