New Audi S8 In Depth

5,204 cc, 450 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 540 Nm of torque. 90 percent of this power available at 2,300 rpm. The Audi S8 sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, and effortlessly reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited).

with the V10 from the Gallardo, why cant they pump the engine to 500 hp, to meet face to face the cars from M and AMG, that is going above 500 hp...

also it would be interesting to see what real top speed this car can do without the limiter... can it reach 300km/h +?

personally if money and wife are no issue (she doesn't like audi at all), i think i would choose the a8 over the ls430.

Excellent point, D!!! This style of grille totally overwhelms anything less than a big-body vehicle, i.e. A6 & A4.

I just read that the S8 is no faster than its W12 powered A8 stablemate. Can you confirm or deny?

Displacement: 5998 cc
Horsepower: 450 bhp @ 6200 rpm
Torque: 428 lb-ft @ 4000-7000 rpm
0-60 mph: 5.0 sec

Doesn't look like it's faster.

Likewise, S55 is no faster than the S600 but is more sportily tuned
