Lexus has announced it will roll out the new LS at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. The LS is the flagship of the Lexus fleet. No official details of the vehicle have been released though it is to be a brand new model. (Concept is shown.)

It's been mentioned on some other threads, but this news is really big. Used to be only US auto manufacturers announced those days at NAIAS, now Lexus is making a splash.

And here's a pic of the LF-Sh, which is supposedly 85-90% of the New LS.

Yeah and that concept drawing was in Motor Trend last year, its just a concept idea from no one at Lexus.

come 2006, me and probably many others will be able to see themselves in ALL Lexus vehicles.
Just 2-3 years ago, I couldnt see myself in any Lexus car, except RX and GX.

IS300 wasnt luxurious enough, ES was like an barge, GS was old and LS was too boring.

Now IS is spanking, GS is nice, next LS will be nice, people who saw ES think it will be 2nd coming of JC, while RX and GX are as attractive as ever.

Thats called great progress, and same goes for Toyota too.

Really? So the new ES is supposed to be an even bigger surprise than the new LS?

some people that saw it said it was suprisingly nice... like, really, really. Now, of course, thats just an hearsay, but they also said LS was good but too revolutionary... LS part was right, so why not trust them with ES :-).

LS 'too revolutionary'? As in '1989 all over again'??

The current ES already wows me, more of the same...improve even more, wow.

I love the direction new Lexus vehicles are going. When's the new ES coming out??

I can only wonder what the ES is going to belike. However, i thought i've heard rumors on here that its going to still follow the current design style somewhat (kind of like the change between 1st and 2nd generation ES3's). But I hope to god it doesn't look anything like the current one on the outside. No offense to 03+ ES owners, but IMO, its the ugliest Lexus exterior, minus the ES250 (no offense to those owners as well, these are just my feelings). All the new Lexus cars look sporty, so hopefully it'll have at least a little less bloated-egg look to it. Work your magic L-Finesse....

Just as equally anticipated to me is hopefully they reveal the engine specs for at least the 460 engine. Or give us more info on it.

I really hope it's in the 350-375 range.

Do we even have any idea when the New ES will be unveiled? The LS hopefully will be the *star* of Detroit. And pretty please Lexus, bring one down to the LA Auto Show!!! Then it will really be 1989 all over again!!! :D

How is the LS too revolutionary?

Maybe the New LS has some newfangled driver interface system (Please no I-drive!!!), and some weird suspension setup, or HUD, or something...maybe the gadgets and gizmos are too overwhelming this time.

It's fun to speculate. ;)
