What...they dont sell the LS, GS, and RX in Germany?? I know they do. Or is it that sales are so low its not worth putting on the list??

I don't think they're among the top which are listed. Remember Lexus dealership networks are not nearly as well developed there, & they don't offer diesels(yet), and more than half of car sales in Germany/Europe are diesels.

Eurpeans mostly like to buy European brands. Funny how Americans largley like to buy non-American brands. :)

It's not surprising the VW Golf heads the list.....for two reasons. First, the Golf, unlike here in the U.S. is wildly popular in Germany even in spite of the smaller, cheaper, higher-MPG VW Lupo sold alongside it....the sedan Jetta just does not have the same attraction in Eurpoe it does here, and, Second, the German government, like many governments in Europe, practices protectionism and puts up economic road blocks in order to protect their own companies....you will notice that most of the vehicles on these lists....especially in the top four or so....have German nameplates even if they are not manufactured there.

actually no. If the car is produced in EU, there are no extra fees, or "roadblocks".
However, in all European countries, people buy their own brands first, which is why you will see German brands first in Germany, French in France and Italian in Italy.
Since this is top 5 lists, there is obviously no Lexus's there, although there are selling better than ever.
Toyota is doing pretty great in Germany, it is top non German brand there.

The question is, why does the A6 sell a million times better in Germany (#1 lux car there and significanlty ahead of the 5 series), while its sales stink here (near the bottom of the pack every month, and about 1/3 of the sales of the 5).

No EU manufactured Lexus yet (will there ever be ?), although I heard they are building more Toyota factories in Europe.

In the US, I think it is because Audi is still a brand that not everyone knows of or knows much about it, and when people want to buy cars for a name, it is between Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, and Cadillac

Nice to see several Toyotas on that list. Lexus sales are still pretty low, but they are improving. As Lexus adds more diesel engines, things will improve even more.
I'm interested though in seeing sales for all of Europe.

Could be because of two things. Number one, the dollar has lost a lot of ground to the Euro and Audis are expensive(I just bought one). Number two, at least half of those Audis are the turbo- diesel models not available here.

True.....but I was talking about German-nameplate cars in general, not just EU-produced vehicles. And there are other forms of protection and roadblocks besides just economic.

well, they get tax cuts from the govts and all, but so does Toyota when it builds an factory in EU.
Our Aygo, Yaris Corolla, Corolla Verso and Avensis are all produced in Europe. It is pretty level field.
As to the A6, it sells good in Germany since it is the cheapest "luxury car" and thats what Germans buy a lot, same as USA buys most Camry's. It is simply what Germans buy mostly.
Of course, you can buy 4cly BMW and Audi's in Germany, thats what people buy the most really. You can buy FWD 4cly Audi A6 (3 diff 4cly engines) :-).

Those R the top car sales in Germany last month, which is nice to see from another countries perspective of what they buy.
No Lexus and the Toyotas sold are different from the ones we get here. :)

I've browsed your reviews, top notch work and for a minute I was thinking maybe just let you do them, that is how good of a job I think it is (and trust me after reading maybe 20+ mags a month, I can tell who can write and who can't and who has a clue and who doesn't)/
