Is this true? They said KBB.com has rated BMW to retain its value over all the other luxury brands over the next 5 years. Best RESALE. I don't believe this.

I'm sure there must be some truth to it otherwise BMW would be falsely advertising that their cars hold their value better than other luxury cars. I know we are all Lexus enthusiasts and believe strongly in our hearts that our Lexus cars are better and would hold it's value compared to a BMW, Mercedes or Audi. Some of it could be subjective. Personally I have my '96 ES 300 which has 245K miles and all I do is the preventative maintenance no major problems whatsoever. I don't think I can take a BMW, Mercedes or an Audi to 245K miles without any major problems such as transmission or motor replacement or major electrical work which these cars are known for.

BMWs have the highest resale value because the brand name will sell itself.

We all know the quality and performance of BMW. Although they do not win in all the luxury categories, they do still have a good following of customers that are willing to spend an extra buck to get them, especially for the 3 Series, which is 60% of all BMWs sold. The 5 and 7 Series do not retain their value as much, but the 3 Series compensates for that. This is why BMW will protect the 3 Series so much, and why they will do anything to prevent another car (IS350 or G35 or whatever) from taking it off at the "benchmark" for intro-luxury performance sedans.

Thanks G.

With Mercedes quality issues, Jaguar being destroyed by FORD and going belly up, and all the other companies producing less than desireable vehicles (imo) the obvious answer to "what will I buy next that combines luxo and performance" is an easy BMW or Lexus decision. Both are on top of their game and both equally win very impressive rewards from mags.

I wouldn't flinch if the opprotunity to purchase either came up by way of good timing on a deal and it were a model I were interested in. I already own 2 Lexus and one BMW, of which there is no clear favorite.

Actually, leasing quotes on the 330i were a lot lower than the IS350 when I was doing some exploring...
