I couldn't agree more, any coach who gets paid over a million bucks a year and needs to scalp tickets for money is a loser imo. Just give them away if you aren't going to attend. The viking have new management and ownershipp and need to start frsh next year. I say get rid of caulpepper while your at it..

Agreed, Culpepper's prime is past, he's out of the limelight and turning more and more injury prone. The vikings need to take some time to revamp totally, a la Washington Redskins.

Let the firing begin. Today Packers coach Mike Sherman was fired. The pack were killed this year by injury and huge free angency loses ,not sure if it was his fault this year was bad. that and the fact Farve threw 50 interceptions didn't help. I think Farve should just go to another team and let the rebuilding of this franchise start..I can see him going to the Jets for a year.

Side note -**** Vermiel retired. I'm going to miss the wussy crying after every game. He's a good coach who cared about every single player who has ever played for him...I give him credit for that.

Yeah, not Shermans fault at all. Favre needs to retire while he still can be rememebed as a top QB.

Didn't Favre say sometime ago that if Sherman went, so did he???? Maybe that's the sign from upper management that they are ready to see Brett hang em up.... :uh:

The best move they could have EVER made... He was the cancer on that team that was prohibiting them from winning. Culpepper also showed this season that without the deep threat of Randy Moss, he's got nothing. He isn't the leader that everyone thought he was. If the Vikings are smart, they'll look for a coach like Mariucci... even though I don't see Mooch being a head coach this coming season.

ON A SIDE NOTE... THIS SPORTS FORUM IDEA WAS THE BEST ONE IN A LONG TIME!!! GREAT JOB, FELLAS!

i know what's up with that?! they shoulda fired Millen's arse instead of Mariucci. Mariucci's system is a proven winner when he was in Frisco.

my boy and i refer to this time of the year as "The Flight of the Nasgul". you know the dead kings in LoTR that try and kill everyone in possession of the ring. the talley is up to 5 "official" firings with norv and malarkey waiting in the wings. actually its already being reported that malarkey is out. theyll just be recirculated elsewhere in the league. also a rumor that herm edwards is gonna resign and might take the chiefs job. here's a little ticker for the rest of you sickos that get a sordid pleasure outta this kinda thing. i know i do.......

couple of things, he didnt make a mil a year. he was the lowest paid coach in the league at around $500k ( i know, pity the poor guy). his low salary was one of the reasons he has lasted this long. the owners didnt want to pay the premium to get a real coach in there. and when he scalped the tix, he was the defensive coordinator, if im not mistaken. still not right, but not as bad as being the captain of the ship..........

do you really think that they should get Bush? i love Bush as much as the next man (no pun intended and pun very much intended ;) ) but they need some O-Line help. carr is getting killed back there and im not sure that bush is soooo much better than dominic that he'll take the pressure off carr. id trade it and a couple of first rounders and get that kid some protection.....

Absolutley should get Bush, this guy is very special and he can take a lot of pressure off of Carr. Plus you can always get big lineman further in the draft or trade for them. Not to often guys as special as Bush come along.

i dont know, dog. i ll wait and see what he does against a real defense on wednesday night. plus, i just have a feeling that he'll end up being another micheal westbrook. not that there's anything wrong with that. just not #1 pick worthy for a team with other needs. can he carry the ball 20+ times against NFL defenses?

I think they need to take Bush, if they don't texas might light their stadium on fire. Even if he is a bust you have to go for with all that he has done up to know in college. He would take pressure off carr cuz defenses will bring 8 up to the box and now Carr will be able to throw to more open WR's. Work on the line through free agency or later draft picks. A Bush type player will not come up again in this draft. Mayb never. He's that good imo.

Saints fire coach after 3-13 season
he Saints fired coach Jim Haslett on Monday, the day after ending a 3-13 season overshadowed by the hurricane that devastated New Orleans and forced the team to abandon the city

This is the funniest thing I've heard all day...LoL

They need to take him - who knows, maybe they'll trade him for a couple players from somewhere else.....very interesting idea....

And I'm not suprised about Haslett. I love this team, but it's time for some changes. We're projected to pick in the 2006 draft 2nd. So I think a we'll start off with a good head coach...LoL

- I say we let go of Adrian McPherson(Who isn't that bad imo) and draft either Matt Leinart or Vince Young. I only recommend so because Brooks was kinda killin' it for us this past season.
Granted, if McCallister stays healthy, then we can be pretty good.

Haslett was a gimme.... he got a raw deal there though. He was almost in the situation the Bucs were under Hugh Culverhouse. The owners only purpose is to get richer, not create a winning team. :thumbdn:

True,
Haslett wanted out during the middle of the season though. I guess Mr. Benson persuaded him to finish the rest of the season. Poor Haslett....he looked like a wreck the last half of the season.

Hopefully this team can turn it around and improve to a winning record next season.

Yes, a lot of coaches got fired today, but take some of these firings with a grain of salt. NFL coaches, unfortunately, don't always get fired for poor performance. One event in particular that stands out in my mind that I will NEVER forget is how Cowboys owner Jerry Jones fired Jimmy Johnson the day after he presented Jones with a SUPER BOWL TROPHY. :egads: What more ON EARTH could an NFL team owner possibly expect from his head coach than the top prize in the league?........Jerry Jones really kicked himself in the a** on that one. Fortunately, after Don Shula's retirement, the Miami Dolphins were on the lookout for some coaching talent at the time and promptly hired Johnson.
And.....conversely, some NFL team owners hang on to coaches for too long after it becomes obvious that they can't handle the job. Best example: right here in D.C. Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder stubbornly held onto head coach Steve Spurrier despite the fact that Spurrier proved, game after game, that he had no idea what he was doing as an NFL coach....he kept on using tactics that worked at the University of Florida where he coached college ball but were clearly inadequate for the much tougher NFL conditions. Spurrier finally resigned on his own ( before his contract was up ), saving Snyder a lot of money and clearing the way for Snyder to get the superb Joe Gibbs....one of the best coaches in NFL history.

Bills' front office decisions expected Wednesday
ESPN.com news services

Former Buffalo Bills coach Marv Levy, 80, will return to the team to oversee the football operation, and president and general manager Tom Donahoe will be fired Wednesday, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports.

On Tuesday, team owner Ralph Wilson held a postseason meeting with coach Mike Mularkey, whose status remains uncertain.

Frustrated by the Bills' 5-11 finish and failure to reach the playoffs for the sixth straight season, Wilson promised to make changes to his management structure, but only after he met with his coach. The meeting took place at Wilson's office in Detroit.

Wilson, age 87, informed Mularkey that he would take a more active role in the organization, including evaluating assistant coaches and personnel, Mortensen reported.

Donahoe, spotted at the team's headquarters Tuesday afternoon, did not take part in the meeting.

Levy did not return several messages left by The Associated Press. He led the Bills to four consecutive AFC titles in the early 1990s before retiring after the 1997 season. He's currently an NFL broadcaster in his native Chicago but remains close to Wilson.

Mularkey likely will have to agree to shake up his staff after his offense and defense finished among the NFL's worst this season. He is scheduled to address his staff on Wednesday.

Last month, Levy told the AP he was a big supporter of Mularkey.

Donahoe failed to build a playoff team in five years at the helm. Buffalo has a 31-49 record -- tied with Cleveland for the third-fewest victories -- during that span. Except for Houston, which joined the NFL in 2002, the Bills are the only AFC team to not make the playoffs since 2001.

The Bills haven't qualified for the postseason since 1999, the six-year drought matching the team's longest since the NFL merger.

Donahoe also has been faulted for hiring coach Gregg Williams, who was dismissed following the 2003 season after going 17-31 in three years.

The Bills produced in their first season under Mularkey, rallying from a 1-5 start to finish 9-7, but missed a shot at a playoff berth with a season-ending collapse despite playing against Pittsburgh's reserves.

The Bills struggled this season, slowed by injuries and a sputtering offense under first-year starter J.P. Losman, who was eventually benched in favor of journeyman backup Kelly Holcomb.

Donahoe is the only Bills executive to hold the post of president in the franchise's 46-year history.

Assistant general manager Tom Modrak will remain with team and oversee the personnel department, but will keep his principal residence in Jacksonville, Fla., Mortensen reported.

Modrak, who has spent 29 years in the NFL mostly in scouting and personnel capacities, is in his fifth year with Buffalo. He joined the Bills after spending three seasons as Philadelphia's director of football operations.

Russ Brandon, the team's vice president of business development and marketing, would be considered a candidate to oversee the franchise's business operations.

Brandon has been credited for marketing the Bills into a regional franchise with his decision to shift the team's training camp to Rochester in 2000 and reaching sponsorship deals with many of the city's major corporations.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
